Service was pretty good last night 1st and last time I will ever eat there Started off with chips and sauce so that the chips were cold and the saucer tasted like pizza sauce Order the beef bean and cheese dip Could not determine the type of canned chili that was the basis for that AbominationMy stepson ordered the crunchy tacos and he compared it unfavorably with Taco BellI had the chili riano dinner that came with refried beans and Spanish riceThe restaurant needs to apologize to the Spanish for that rice that they servedThe beans were coldThe chilliano seemed to been rolled in some kind of a crunchy topping and then deep fried served very hot and highly season so hot that season was that I could not eat it and I could stay in pretty hot food I just don't know how the El Rio Grande has been in business as long as they have with the food that they served last night

Initially thought individually covered Chips for 'nachos' was strange. But now that I've tried them, can't understand why more restaurants don't prepare their 'nachos' the same way. AWESOME!!!! The chips stay crisp and really well covered with beans, beef, cheese and jalapeno. YUM

I've stopped by several times. Starting to search for my new local fav spot. This is hands down the spot to be. As a contractor I travel abroad all over the US. I find local spots. Struggling to get food out. My husband order the Summer special and it arrived messy, unseasoned and warm. I always get the fried burrito and it was black on the bottom and so tough it was unpleasant. Salsa and meat were bland.Chips and drink very good but not enough to redeem the overall experience. Only one server, no one tending bar. Just makes me sad. Been coming here for decades.
One of the best places I have eaten at since I got to Baton rouge. The location might seem a bit off, but it makes it unique. Definitely should give it a try, you will not regret it.Ps: Don't forget the queso

You'll love the margarita...no need for happy hour, because all you need is ONE! Enchiladas Con Huevos is muy bien too!This place opened in 1962...you know they have it right!!
