Food was good. Staff was excellent. Skylar and Zoe were fantastic while we were celebrating my aunt, who felt like a queen thanks to their attentiveness. Plus, lobster.
This was our second visit to Drago's in Baton Rouge. The raw and charred grilled oysters here are outstanding. In the past, we just had the oysters with drinks in the bar area. This time we came for dinner. Again the oysters were outstanding, but the service was uneven and very slow. We could see waitstaff huddled at the kitchen and check in desk the entire evening. We didn't see our waitress until we were seated for 15 minutes and it took another 10 minutes to get a draft beer and wine from the bar. I had the shrimp and grits, which was more like shrimp creole with grits instead of rice. Two in our party had gumbo and another had the eggplant parm. I received my entree for some reason 5 minutes before the rest in our party received theirs. Go for the oysters. Skip the rest.
Visited for our anniversary and my husband's birthday. Our delicious appetizers were the alligator bites and a dozen chargrilled oysters. For entrees we had: 2 fried shrimp lunches, steak and 1/2 lobster tail, kid's hamburger, and several alcoholic beverages. The only issue I had was the size of my lobster (pictured) and steak. The 1/2 lobster was SUPER tiny, almost prawnlike and the filet was very small, not worth the $30+ fee. Our waiter, David, was adorable and very accommodating. I spoke with Connelly- very professional and kind- and he explained that supply chain issues caused price hikes and smaller portions. He then suggested the eggplant pasta covered with a crab sauce (pictured) which was DELICIOUS and a very large portion. I can't remember the name, but I had the alcoholic lemonade drink was tasty. My husband had an Old Fashion, which was very strong, but he appreciated the alcohol amount. We'll return again soon.
A great place to eat. First time at the BR location and it was great! Do know that when oysters are out of season (any month without a R in the name) they will be smaller than in season. Also - the place is huge!
On our long drive to Florida, this was a wonderful restaurant to find for dinner. We very much enjoyed the wine and beer after being on the road all day. For a starter we were adventurous and tried the fired gator nuggets. Very nice. However, next time we dine at this restaurant we will definitely try the roasted oysters. They were being prepared within our view, and they looked great. Our entrees were superb: crawfish etouffee and fried shrimp platter. We topped off the meal with an outstanding bread pudding. Our server, Siggy provided great service. Overall, a most excellent dining experience.
We came all the way from Florida and was told you must try Drago's. So, we pulled up and wasn't disappointed. First ask for "Siggy" best waiter hands down. Attentive to the table, knowledgeable about menu, and overall great customer service and personality! Ok now let me talk about this food!!! Yes, lawd oysters delicious, even if you aren't an oyster person just try them, you'll become one. The best I've had in LA. I ordered the large lobster but get it stuffed ? the flavors and the lobster was amazing. I had a really nice sized lobster cooked perfectly. We also had a shrimp poboy...which was huge and the fried shrimp was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The bread was soft and crisp at the same time....fresh tomatoes also but just a great sandwich. We went mid day so the crowd was bad at all, it's a large place with Huge bar area and great selection. We ate laughed, the waiter had great stories and even often advice for a incoming freshman to start college off on the right foot. Must try place and if "Siggy" is there he's your guy!
The staff was pleasant, but the food... terribly disappointing. The chargrilled oysters were mushy... the boudin stuffed shrimp weren't tasty and the shrimp was overcooked and rubbery. The gator tacos weren't memorable. For the amount of money spent, this experience was worse than lackluster.
Very nice place - good service. We ordered a variety of items. Oysters and alligator appetizers were excellent. Sauces on dishes are rich - some salty. Plenty of seafood in the pasta dish. Tuna salad very good.
Food was very good but pricey. Waitress was great but did not perform the functions of a restaurant with 5 stars such as boxing our leftover food and pouring beer in my glass. Also, restroom door and restrooms were dirty. 2 sets of guests arrived in shorts and sleeveless shirt and others not dressed very well (by choice). On-line menu does not match up with actual menu. Drago’s wants to give the impression that they’re a nice restaurant but they do not belong in the group of restaurants like Sullivan’s, Ruth’s Chris, Ruffino’s, etc.
THIS PLACE IS GREAT!!! Fast service even though they had a full house! Seated as soon as we walked in the door! Food great drinks good and strong! Strongly recommend the sweet magnolia drink! This is now our go to spot
