After a long day of driving, we checked into the Hotel Bentley in Alexandria (lovely old hotel, stunning lobby), and for dinner opted simply to go downstairs to The Bentley Room. We made no mistake. The restaurant is not as ornately decorated as the lobby, but the food and service were very fine. I had the Maple Bacon Bourbon Salmon. I am not a big fan of bacon, but this was delicious. It came with two sides. I chose the vegetable medley and mac & cheese. My husband ordered blackened Catfish Jenkins (it can be fried or grilled on request) topped with crawfish etouffee. The service and the experience was outstanding!
Took my mom here for her birthday yesterday and was not happy with the outcome at all. Ordered Ribeye steak asked to cook well it came out bloody, had to send it back to cook longer, my kids chicken tenders was over cooked very hard , she couldn't finish them, the place is very over priced for such small portions of food, crawfish Mac and cheese was brought out cold. The worst part I got a $40 steak that I thought was $26 dollars , apparently there were Two types of Ribeye, so I think I should have been ask which steak not just the one they decided to give me , the more expensive one of course. Don't mine paying big when the food and service is worth it, but this definitely not the place. Now today myself and mom has had the worst stomach ache and heart burn ever!! This restaurant is a NO for me.
This was our 2nd visit in a month to this historic restaurant. The brunch is great with lots of interesting selections with a Louisiana flair. I ordered the veggie omelette with Gouda cheese grits. The omelette was perfect with an even amount of each ingredient. Plenty of food. A great place for Sunday brunch.
I can NOT SAY ENOUGH WONDERFUL THINGS about the Mother’s Day buffet. My family enjoyed the phenomenal Easter buffet and looked forward to the Mother’s Day; let me say, we were impressed once again. So many wonderful things I could not sample everything but here are my favorites1. The eggs Benedict … this delicious golden yolk cascaded down, mingling with the silky thyme hollandaise to infuse into the soft English muffin…. Absolute delish!!!2. The shrimp and grits …. Perfectly cooked spicy shrimp with Gouda grits was a testimony to why southern Louisiana cuisine reigns supreme …. And the Monica sauce elevates it to elegance while still your tummy is pampered with down home comfort.3. The fried fish! This is a chef’s secret because it was not traditional fried fish. Whatever the secret, it delivered scrumptiousness in every crispy tender bite! Oh…. And don’t forget the homemade tartar sauce ?4. …… and the perfectly cooked Prime Rib! with the amazing horseradish sauce to complement … definitely a show stopper5. The ambiance…. The service as always great …..Which seems to be part of the family atmosphere….. and the soft jazz …..taking it from just dining with family to Mother’s Day memories- [ ]

Great brunch menu. Glad we called ahead for a reservation since they had several large parties on a Sunday. Service was good and we will be back again in the future.
Delicious fried catfish with crawfish étouffée over rice, mac & cheese with crawfish, and the beignets with the caramel espresso sauce. Molly and the rest of the servers were great! Come hungry!
I always stop by here omw to NOLA. It's a beautiful sleepy town. It's gorgeous and peaceful. Great food.
We had a beautiful time here for my dad's 75th birthday dinner. Our waitress Felicia was so attentive and pleasant.Cery friendly and helpful. The food was very tasty and very well prepared
I planned to have a group of 10 all meet at the Bentley Room for my husband’s birthday. Being around the holidays, I knew they may have odd hours so I called a week before and spoke to a manager. The lady was nice and informed me they would indeed be open that day and would be willing to serve us. So the morning of, I called the restaurant again to just let them know what time we would all be there and there would be 10 of us. A rude hostess told me that she could not make a reservation only a manager could and there were no managers there to help me. I told her that was fine and we all proceeded to arrive at the restaurant thinking we would just wait on a table or sit a tables beside each other… no big deal. We walked in and told the hostess how many and she said we can’t come because we didn’t have a reservation. Firstly, I tried to make a reservation. Secondly, if we could not be seated, that should have been stated on the phone when I called that morning so we could have made different plans. I’m normally super relaxed and understanding to restaurant staff because I myself worked in restaurants for years, but this was ridiculous. Every time before this instance, my family has always enjoyed our food and the server Bobby has alway taken great care of us. Unfortunately I’m not sure we will be returning after all this. So sad to have such bad service in such a nice establishment. The young girls at the front ruined the whole experience. Hopefully Spirits will open brunch again. Do not bring big groups here the staff obviously cannot handle it.
