This place is not what it used to be! I was very disappointed today I ordered a catfish poboy. It was mostly bread lettuce and tomato. I asked for Cajun seasoning on the fries and didn't get it. I asked for cheese didn't get it. Most importantly I asked for catfish and barely got any! They didn't ask what type of bread I wanted I remember I used to get wheat bread. It cost over 15 dollars also. Worst money I ever spent. Then I call to complain and they told me to hang on to the sandwich for 2 days and bring it back. I was in a hurry so didn't have time to go back or I would have. I wouldn't recommend going to this location to anyone. I really want my money back!
First time there and the guy who waited on me was the most hospitable person I’ve dealt with since I’ve been here! Not to mention my food was on point! I had the fried green tomatoes and catfish plate.
I have always enjoyed the fresh seafood here! You can taste the freshness of the shrimp in every bite ?
Waited 30 to 45 minutes for my order ( 3 pieces of fish, few shrimps, a side order of onion rings and a cup of ice tea) it was cold and didn’t taste right either and for $25, I will never go back or recommend it to anyone.
This place saved the day. We went on an over night to Lake Charles with plans to go to a specific restaurant to get some fried oysters only to find out they changed the menu and no longer had them. So the next day on the way home I used Google maps to find a place in Alexandria that had them. We found Smackin Mack's and the trip was redeemed. I've never been asked how done I want my oysters before. I chose medium which was perfect. And yes next road trip this will be a mandatory stop..
Currently, they have the best tartar sauce in town. They also give you enough on the portions to fill you up! They do seem to get overwhelmed when they have a good number of customers. They disconnect the telephones and wait on the drive-thru customers at a snail's pace.
If I could give it a half of star I would because the only thing in my plate that was good and tasted fresh where they fries and cole slaw the woman who had me my food looked at me like she didn’t wanna give me my food I’m upset because this place was a good fish place ???
Great food. I like that it is not cooked till you order. Everything is fresh, hot and oh so delicious. Will definitely visit again when I come back to town to visit family. Keep up just as you are and you will be open a long, long time.
Food was excellent. We enjoyed ourselves and loved reading all of the signs. We will definitely be back the next time we visit Alexandria.
