Fat Man Reviews was finally able to stop in and check out Wink's Bar in Richmond, KY. Wink's is a small bar, like 8-9 counter seats and is only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5-9 or until they sell out. It's best to check their Facebook page to see if they are opening on one of those days. I thought since I was finally here, I would try a couple of items off of the menu. I first sampled the All American Burger which comes with a hand smashed patty, two pieces of American cheese, grilled onions, ketchup, house made mustard on a toasted bun. The bun was toasted well with some crunch and the burger had a nice crust and was seasoned properly. There was a good burger to bun ratio. The mustard has a good tang and offers a little sweetness to the burger and helps cut through the saltines of the cheese. There is just enough ketchup to balance the burger and the grilled onions offer texture and sweetness. The special of the day was a Pineapple Bacon BBQ Tenderloin. This came with grilled pineapple, bacon, American cheese and BBQ sauce. The tenderloin was fresh, juicy and perfectly grilled but needed just a touch more seasoning on it. The bacon was crunchy, and the BBQ sauce was a hickory style that offered a light smoky sweet flavor with some tomato tanginess. The cheese had a pleasant saltines and the pineapple was crunchy and provided a new level of flavor to the sandwich. Wink's has a very small menu. Basically a special of the day and 1-2 other sandwiches and a couple of chips to choose from when ordering. They also serve beer by the can, and even have a beer named after them from Dreaming Creek brewery the Wink's Dunkel. It's a one-man show, so please be patient as you will most likely have to stand in line to get a sandwich. The Fat Man says that Wink's Bar is Fat Man Approved with 2 chins.
This place is awesome!!!!! My son took us here for dinner one night while in town for a visit. I love the way this place operates!!!2 burgers at a time! Great selection of beers.
Our new go-to spot! Awesome food and vibe. Will be back next time we have a sitter! Delicious and great service! Another reason to love Richmond.
No frills, honest hamburger and can of beer hole in the wall. A true bar and grill as that’s about all is inside the place. Come early if you want a seat. Highly recommended.
