No one wanted to cook dinner this year so we turned to our traditional Chinese food for Christmas. The only place open on that side of town, it was totally chaotic. . The food was not as good as other Chinese restaurants in town. Go for the spring roll instead of the egg rolls, which come with the combination plate. My adult son stated that their egg rolls taste weird. I believe it is the ground meat, which is a strange color, that gives the different flavor.. It was quite pricey in my opinion, but you got a lot of food, if we didn’t have such picky eaters in our extended family we could have purchased fewer items and saved money because we may have three meals of left overs. I guess that traditional, too, but most people have turkey or ham left over.. We took it to go. Seating is very limited.

I went to Hong Kong Resterant Saturday sept 15 2018 . I have eaten food there many times before and it was always good as the rest of my family and many of my friends. Ok when I went in Saturday I ordered my usual sweet and sour chicken and pork fried rice the combo meal well most of the time it takes a while to prepare the meal but this time was differant I no longer sat down to wait than she had it ready so I took it home and the rice was dried out and the chicken was dry to well I ate some of it because I was hungry and couldn't eat much because it tasted like it had set around for awhile and like it was just heated up when I ordered it. Well I decided to compline and I called and told them what happened and was told no problem just bring back and they eather replace or give me a refund. Well, this is the Hong Kong in Owensboro , Kentucky in the strip mall just off starlite drive where kroger is so I live across town and I drive all the way back and take it back and tell them I am the one who called about the food being bad so she takes it out of the bag and looks at it and I did eat some of it but couldn't eat all of it because it was so bad she said no oh no you finish cannot replace because you finish well how do you know it was bad unless you eat some of it she said she needed all of it if I brought in all of it I wouldn't have known that it was dried out and been setting around for awhile so I told her I won't be Back and I won't there are plenty of places around Owensboro to get good Chinese food I don't have to be treated like I was all I wanted was for it to be replaced with fresh food not some that had been setting around and then heated up and charge me for fresh food and I assure you it was not. So if you want food that has set around for awhile and pay almost 8.00 for it just go there.
Delicious, authentic Chinese dishes freshly prepared to order. The restaurant is located in a strip mall but do not let the outside appearance discourage you. The food is delicious and quickly prepared by true Chinese chefs. Reasonably priced and always hot and delicious. Great egg rolls, crab rangoon and shrimp toast too!
Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant, near Kroger on Owensboro’s west side is our weekly go-to for Chinese food. They have been in same location for 10 or so years. Freshly made to order in 5-10 minutes usually. Most of their business is call-in, take out. We usually sit at one of the 4 tables after ordering our food. Their are no waiters. Sometimes they will bring food to your table if they are not busy, but if busy, they’ll get your attention and you go to counter to pick up food & plastic utensils. They make their own appetizers. We particularly like their hot & sour soup because it is made fresh when you order. Very reasonably priced. Try it!! Support a local family owned business.
