I was so excited to find a 100% gluten free restaurant to eat at while in Louisville for the weekend. It was a dream come true to not have to question the menu. The food was delicious!!
Celiac safe! 100% gluten free! Delicious and not outrageously priced.
Amazing Food. Great Staff!! Cannot express how much I love having so many options at restaurant that is safe allergy friendly for me. I wish we had more Silly Axe restaurants!!
Everything is 100% gluten free. Really great staff. Variety of options. Food, drinks, and dessert are really good. They need more exposure and are great
Ok, so my wife has been trying to get me to come here for a while and I was against it. I've never really had anything gluten free that I would consider "good" I got the biscuits and gravy with an extra side of sausage and I was definitely impressed. It was WAY better than I expected it to be. It was actually good! We also got a slice of the cookies n cream cake for tonight and I'm super excited about that. We will definitely be back!
My husband and I are from Indy but wanted a quick weekend away. We decided to spend some time in Louisville. I’ve been gluten free for six years and love when we find a fun place to try - especially when everything is gluten free! We ended up at The Silly Axe Cafe not once on our visit…but twice! We stopped once to snack/get dessert and then had to go back a second time for a meal. Their special at the time was pretzel bites and I cannot tell you how stoked I was for that. I used to LOVE the pretzel place at the mall. So getting gf pretzel bites seriously made my whole weekend - yes really. Loved the vibes and the hustle and bustle of everyone back in the kitchen working to crank out the good eats. Place was hopping with others also enjoying lunch or picking up treats. We parked behind the restaurant (it’s free parking) and entered from the back. Nice setup. Accessible from both the front and back of this fun spot. Will definitely be back the next time we visit Louisville or on our way through town!
This place is amazing. The staff are friendly and the food is delicious. So many great choices. Completely gluten free and they have beer! We absolutely love the Chef Angela she answers any questions we have and goes the extra mile to please. Well worth the wait and cost for some great gluten free comfort food!
It’s very disheartening that this place has such great potential but is always underwhelming. I am never one to complain or make a bad review unless it’s warranted. I understand they were understaffed, but the service all 5 times I’ve been wasn’t good. No one is friendly, the cashier always has to ask questions to someone in the kitchen (different cashiers) because they frequently run out of things and the food isn’t worth the price. I only got a couple of pictures this time but I paid for a fish dinner that was $19 after tax and it was very greasy, and if we hadn’t waited 35 minutes for our food, I wouldn’t have eaten it. There wasn’t anyone there a full 15 minutes after we ordered and it still took that long. After we were there and got our food, a couple families came in and wanted to move tables to sit together, and asked nicely. The person asked said “whatever” and walked off. My fiancé and I ordered from the bar and I asked what a certain beer was like and they said they didn’t know because they don’t drink them. This is the only fully gluten free restaurant in town and with someone with an autoimmune disorder I had high hopes. So much so that I’ve tried it multiple times thinking it was just flukes but it’s every time.
Our first visit to Silly Axe. The chef/owner helped us with vegan/veg options. The “The Fun Guy” wrap was quite tasty. Cider on tap was quite a treat. Quiet atmosphere and excellent service. We will be back!
The sandwiches were great! Yeah, it was a little pricey, but GF ingredients cost more. The mac and cheese balls were terrible. Over cooked and under seasoned. I brought them up to the counter to let them know that something was wrong with them, and they were pretty rude about it, saying- “well’ no one else is complaining”. I find that hard to believe because all 3 of my party found them uneatable. If I go back I would stick with the jerk chicken sandwich which was great.
