Ok the food is ok! But when We went in on a Friday evening I wanted to dine inside, the waiter told us the menu was on the scan which was taped on the table. We asked if we could have a real physical menu. He said yes but the prices were”slightly” different on the physical menu. We said OK because he said he said “ slightly” and I guess we were stupid enough not to ask How slightly. We ordered two bowls of rice, an order of crab Rangoon and a couple of spring rolls. When we got our check we were shocked. The prices were not slightly different, the entrées were five dollars more, and entrées were about two dollars more. We ended up paying about $60 when the menu showed that we would’ve been paying about $15 less. I guess it’s our fault that we didn’t ask what he meant by slightly different however they should have updated their menu for those people who like a printed menu instead of scanning one in their phone. We will not go back despite the fact that the food was good. I think this was trickery on their part giving a menu and not telling us the correct prices. I would not recommend this type of a place to anyone. They overcharged us by lying. If you ask for a real menu ask them what the real prices are

I've visited Joy Luck a half a dozen times over the past few years. I am never disappointed. I love the available vegetarian options, including the Bok Choy and Five Flavor Vegetables. Good wine and beer selection. Staff are friendly and helpful. Service is fast. Great restaurant.

In the past we have always enjoyed our meals here. Today when we entered it was a bit chilly inside plus sitting in cold metals seat didn’t improve the situation. To be fair the service was very good and attentive. We ordered 2 appetizers and a veggie Pad Thai to share. The egg rolls were good and crispy. The soup dumplings unfortunately were bland and skimpy. We were trying to find soup dumplings that compared to the wonderful soup dumplings at Joe’s Shanghai in NYC but the portions were small and lackluster. The Pad Thai although good seemed a much smaller portion than in the past. I have never come home hungry after eating in a Chinese restaurant until today.

The food is simply amazing. The servers are friendly and great

We got pickup from here and we actually liked all the food we got. There was one table of people there eating when we went to pick up our order. The two teenage or early 20s boys who helped us were a little silly and immature with us, but they did their job fine, so I had no issue with their behavior. However, I am sitting here reading through the reviews to try and decide on a restaurant to eat at this weekend. As someone who worked in customer service previously for 13 years, I can say I am appalled by the fact that the "owner," or whoever that was replying to reviews, would have the nerve to treat paying customers that way. I see that it has been 5 months since a snarky reply has been made. If the behavior has been permanently ended, I honestly recommend that you come on here yourself and write a review to that effect letting people know and apologizing for previous comments made.As a local guide for this area on Google who spends a lot of time eating out in restaurants, I can honestly say that I will not be back to eat there JUST because of those comments, and I'm sure many of the people who see my reviews will probably make that decision as well considering the many, MANY other, amazing, traditional, oriental restaurants in Louisville.Reviews are for the restaurant to learn what disappointed a paying customer so that they can make their business better for paying customers in the future. If you want to try and be funny by being snarky, get a twitter profile and keep it out of your business unless you want it to fail.

Usually love this place but was served obviously burnt Cantonese duck on Sunday. Our hostess/server/busser/dishwasher/expediter/etc was definitely overworked and slightly distressed but this insulted my taste buds and eyes intelligence. I'm sure there was a discussion in the kitchen whether it should even be served, and unfortunately it was. My mother and I didn't say anything bc of how busy our server was but it really ruined our experience. Please go back to the Joy Luck I've come to know and love. Also, please don't leave a snarky reply under this bc it looks very, very unprofessional when you've done that to your reviewers in the past.

I normally go to a different location. Today I came to Bardstown Road location. Upon entering no one was at hostess desk or bar. I waited 10 minutes and no one came out. There were only 3 tables occupied. So I left and went next door to Taco City. There should be some type of signal to let them know the door was opened.

Phenomenal!Amazing food and great service. We will be back next time we are in town.Try the pork belly stew, omg so good!!

Do NOT eat here if you are vegan or vegetarian. I have heard good things about the meat dishes but they have really bad tofu and veggie dishes. I've been vegan for seven years and have eaten my share of tofu dishes, believe me. Never in my life have I had stale tofu. Idek know what that means but they managed to do it at both locations. I suspect they cook it all in one batch in the morning and just let it sit all day. None of the staff was unpleasant or anything but my food was honestly inedible both times.

Outstanding Asian cuisine. Excellent beer and bourbon lists. They had me at Weihenstephaner Dunkelweiss! Pad Thai is the most authentic in town. Great service too.
