This place is flat amazing. Seriously delicious food, fresh and housemade, huge portions, very sensible prices, and a charming hardworking owner at the helm. What's not to love?
Read great reviews and decided to try The Charcoal on my way back home. Glad I stopped in. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma Sandwich with Fries and a Tabouli Salad and a drink at about $16. Great value for the food you get. The chicken was soooo tender and had that slight smoky flavor combined with some great spices. The Zu Sauce on the side was also amazing, but the sandwich was good on its own. Fries were fresh and seasoned. The Tabouli Salad was fresh and flavorful. Employees (maybe the owner and wife?) were working hard, but also very friendly. Place is small, but clean. GREAT food.
After spending a few days with bourbon and fusions we wanted something less... complicated. This was PERFECT & 100% hit the spot.We (of course) ordered the one thing they were out of - kabobs. Did that stop them from selling them to us? Nope... we got a "can you wait 15 minutes" - while we wanted to say something like "oh, no, that's ok" we wanted those kabobs more & we really could wait. So, we both nodded enthusiastically & took a seat.We were rewarded with a delightful spread of delicious food & sauce options to adjust to our liking. I mixed everything from my shawarma plate together - no shame. I drizzled one sauce then periodically added the other. Absolutely delicious! The staff interacted well with all patrons & there was a feeling a familiarity in the air. There were clearly a mix of regulars and first timers. The prices were reasonable & good portion sizes.I bookmarked it before leaving the table!
The staff was very helpful in choosing our food ( First time there). The food was very good and reasonably priced. we will definitely go again.
Tasty food, felt like I was in my country really love the place and the stuff were very politeThe place is very clean and you can sit and eatIt’s made on charcoal but the service is too busy so there is a wait of 40-45 min on take outs
Half Chicken with baba ghanouj and tandoori bread and basmati rice for around $10. Complimentary charcoal sauce. Very tasty and filling.
Tasty food, fast service, kind and professional staff. Clean and cozy small restaurant close to the Westport Road.We ordered 1.Chicken dish with basmati rice, fries, and spicy zu sauce. 2. Shawerma plate with a tasty tabouli salad, and 3. Chicken Shawerma Sandwich with hummus. The food was fresh, just made, as well as french fries. This restaurant offers halal food.
The food was excellent and people were really nice. I had the shawarma and really enjoyed it. The restaurant has been open for 2 years and I did not know it was there. Only draw back is a limited seating area.
One of my friends favorite restaurants!Pros:*Delicious Chicken*Reasonably priced*Good portion size*Extremely nice staffCons:*Dining room is a little small
Our family loves this place, and we come here all the time. The charcoal chicken is so tender and flavorful it will blow your mind. The half chicken is a better deal because it's not much more money, but you'll definitely have leftovers and it's still amazing out of the fridge cold. My favorite thing might be their hummus and tandoori bread though. Once I tried their baba ganoush, it was delicious, and it left the best aftertaste. Their fries and rice are always very good as well.
