The restaurant is in same building as Louisville Pottery. Two sections to the restaurant. Very casual atmosphere and menu has a lot of variety. Our food tasted good, but two of us were disappointed by the soggy bread on the bottom of our sandwiches. I had a 'Rubino' which is grilled. The top piece of bread was nicely toasted but the bottom was soggy. Had to use a knife and fork to eat the last quarter because the bottom slice had deteriorated. the other person with a soggy bottom sandwich had roasted vegetables. she simply did not finish her sandwich. The bean salad I had as a side was excellent.

First time customer, but I will come back often! I had possibly the most delicious salad I've ever eaten. The menu has a wide variety wonderful options. I resisted the urge, while walking back from the bathroom, to interrupt other diners to ask "That looks fabulous! What is it?" The space is large, bright, and comfortable. There are outdoor tables if the weather allows. Reasonable prices. Excellent service. Shop at the attached pottery store before or after your meal.

Good service, extensive menu, great building, efficient waitstaff. One of the biggest surprises was the desserts. Not only are the cake slices gigantic, but they are heavenly tasting. Parking can be a premium so going early (pre-noon) or later (1p on) would probably have more available parking. My only precaution is for deli sandwich fans: these are not NYC Broadway Deli-style overloaded with meat sandwiches. If you're looking for something like that, your best bet would be Stevens & Stevens.

The food, atmosphere, and staff were fabulous! Large portions. The large biscuits were a little bit dry even with the gravy, but it wasn't a big enough issue to bring down the 5 star rating because everything else made up for it. Thw waitress who had just moved here from Florida was fantastic...welcome to Kentucky! I really loked the biscuits and gravy coming in a bowl, with a layer of sausage on the bottom, followed by open biscuit smothered in gravy, and another large biscuit cut open and placed on top for a beautiful looking dish. The wife even had to take home their famous tomato dill soup we forgot to get a picture of. I highly recommend this place.

We had a wonderful experience here for brunch. From the moment we sat down, our waitress was very attentive with bringing us drinks. It was my mother's birthday & one of the guys working there came to our table to compliment us and wished my mom a happy birthday. It was very nice & he offered her a piece of cake to take home. The Italian Cream Cheese cake was SO GOOD too! Seemed like a friendly, nice environment. We will be back for sure.

We recently enjoyed The Cafe on a Sunday morning. Diverse menu of Breakfast favorites and Lunch choices. Can’t beat the combo of Soup, Half Sandwich, Side and Cookie! The Tomato Dill soup is my favorite. Nice, open dining area.

I have been to The Cafe s ever since Sal Rubino opened the place, probably once a week until now. The breakfast today was the “straw”. Since the takeover, which I was not opposed to, there has been dramatic change. Why do you want to change a good thing? The place was a favorite and crowds were waiting for entrance. The first Change was the breakfast potatoes from a delicious real potato cooked on the grill or baked with onions and grease and herbs to a diced deep fried potato that you can get everywhere and at fast food joints. The Change today was from a real croissant to a bun shaped like a croissant, the same as sold at Wendy’s. You are destroying a good thing. You have raised the prices and decreased the quality and quantity of your food. Raise the prices if you need to but don’t change a thing from when Sal ran the place. Also the parking has diminished which rules out a lot of older people coming there. Our group of 10 came one night for dinner and the food was not good The mashed potatoes that came with the meal were dry and tasted like they weee prepared way in advance Is one example. My group of 10 does not want to return there at night.

I had never been to the old location or even heard of it before so had no preconceived notions. We went for weekday lunch and got there at 11:30. As a work group, we were a party of 14. I'm not sure if someone called ahead but we were seated within 5 minutes. If you have to wait, you can browse the Louisville Stoneware Co which is connected and opens to the restaurant. It more than passed the time of the short wait. The place is huge and we arrived before the lunch rush got started. The menu had a huge selection and I was tempted by several things but ultimately ordered the french toast from the breakfast menu. For such a large group, I felt we didn't wait too long for our food. My french toast was pretty good. Different than I'd ever had before - made from French baguettes with pecans and fried apples. It was a huge and filling portion. Not your typical french toast. It was good but not sure I'd order it again. Everyones' dishes looked great and everyone was more than happy with their sandwiches/entrees. They do have dinner hours on the weekend but I'd love to come back for lunch again and try a sandwich.

Made a reservation for lunch today and was very excited to visit the restaurant with a friend to share chicken tenders and belgian waffles plate. Ordered and waited 40 minutes for a plate that looked, felt and tasted like it had been sitting under a hot lamp for a while. Chickens tenders did not taste fresh; they were small and light colored, not the usual thick, juicy, crispy and golden brown. The flavorless fries (with no ketchup, though requested) were bland and pointless. The waffles were the only good part of the meal; unfortunately, not worth returning for.

With breakfast, I got the option of “bacon” or “crispy bacon”. I picked bacon, and God help the crispy bacon folks, because mine was burnt.I also got a fruit cup, and that was just the cherry on top of the bland/burnt meal. I didn’t realize you’re allowed to serve customers moldy fruit. The picture shows the mold growing on the grape. Not to mention, it was the smallest fruit cup I’ve ever seen - it came in a sauce container. If you want moldy, unseasoned, burnt food, eat here. If not, don’t waste the money.Servers were nice though!
