if it’s your first time having indian food and you have never had a single spice in your meal before you might like it.for the price and quality please just go to clay oven. the food is super bland and the rice was dry. the garlic naan tasted like it did not have any garlic on it.they do give good proportions which is the only reason i am not giving them 1 stars.edit: i changed it to one star bc i got food poisoning
Great food for those who enjoy Indian cuisine and the service is friendly and helpful. Very delicious when the food arrived, which came fairly quickly (we ordered 6 entrees, and a whole Tandoori chicken to share with two orders of Naan). If one has a complaint, it's the price of the food for the amount of the food that one received. For example, with the exception of chicken at $14 and the rest of the meat options at $16 per entreé, and choice of sauce to accommodate, such as a Masala or Curry, there were only a palm full of chunks of meat for that price. Bathroom was good but not great. Felt a little bit cramped maybe for larger people and the sinks have bowl on pedestal type of use. If one isn't accustomed to it, isn't quite user friendly or hands free.
I have been here a few times and each time there have been issues. This time, the wait staff was slow and not very organized. The food was okay but there are better Indian restaurants. The cleanliness of this place is not on par with other restaurants of this type.
This is my first time here and it was extremely bad cause the foods were so bad, if I knew how the food be would like before I COULD NOT. Don’t encourage anyone who wants to eat real Indian food to come here, thanksThe people who works there are nice,
I really enjoy the food here and the usually quiet atmosphere. The lunch buffet is always fantastic, though slightly more limited than other Indian restaurants. My only real complaint is that sometimes they take a really long time to get/process the check. I am usually not in a hurry so it's no big deal, but I did find it rather odd.Other than that, service is very prompt / polite and I have never had an issue with anything they served me.
I'm really going to try and take it easy on this one, so here we go. This is a decent oh, let me repeat decent Indian restaurant. Not the best in the world but not the worst either. That being said I would stay away from the Biryani because it is just not very good. They have okay Curry and decent saag paneer. Not my first choice for Indian food but if you're in the area and really need Indian food this is the place to go. There are definitely far worse places so don't take this as a bad review it's just not the best of the best. That being said I'll try it again and see if it's improved and adjust my review accordingly.
Ordered the Dal Makhani was too soupy not many lentils and not much flavor. I Didn't feel comfortable paying the 12.99 for a below average Dal in my opinion. I compare this the Clay Oven's Dal which was so much better. I hope they change something and make this dish a star. Right now I would never ever order this dish again for that price.
This restaurant is so fire. I could eat here three meals a day every day for the rest of my life I wouldn’t get tired of it. The place is beautiful, clean, smells good, has great staff, and the food is unreal. I love Indian food and this place is the best in Louisville. Unrelated, but I moved to Nashville for a bit and tried a lot of their Indian places and none held up to Taj either. Happy to be back and eating here again. Been going here for more than 10 years since I was a kid. Highly recommend the lunch buffet, or, if you’re having dinner there/doing takeout, get the saag paneer and chicken takka masala. Most Indian places I’ve been to frustratingly use way too much tomato in their tikka masala but Taj’s is more savory and peppery which I like. Put those two dishes over their basmati rice and you’ll be satisfied for sure. Their tandoori chicken is good too and so is the lamb. And get some garlic naan while you’re at it. This is Indian food done right.
Since living in Louisville since 07’ I have tried 4 indian restaurants and Taj Palace is the best Indian restaurant from the other 3 for quantities of sayce and rice because the other Indian restaurants dont give you a lot of sauce and rice so if you want more bang for your buck eat here
Pillar of the community, a food so good for so many, it provides comfort and warmth in addition to a satisfied stomach. Their tikka masala and naan are splendid, a go to meal that makes me happy and content, no matter the time of day. A gem on Goose Creek Road.
