I was going to Louisville for a spa day and searched Groupon for a new place to try. I found Osaka! Actually I found 2.lol I went to the one restaurant to discover I was at the wrong one and it took about 10 minutes to get to the proper place so check the address if you have a Groupon. Anyway the service was great. I got carry out but I did people watch while I waited. The waitress was attentive and i watched her double check orders before serving. The atmosphere was very chill, and was clean and orderly and everyone was nice. It was fun watching the guy make sushi behind the counter as well. No matter how hard I try I cannot do that and he was going fast to keep up with the many orders. Also they weren't stingy with the ingredients. Definitely an art form. The food was fresh and tasty, but I think it would have been better if I ate there instead of driving an hour home. The chicken fried rice was ok. I like my rice with a lot of veggies and flavor in it and it was literally only chicken. But that's my fault i suppose i should have paid more attention to what i was ordering. Usually in sushi nights I get noodles. The sushi was very good. My one complaint would be the tuna on one roll (think it was called like cherry blossom) had a slight metallic taste to it that I didn't like. I recommend the place and I'll def go back next time I'm in the area. Came with a fork, cop sticks and the good soy sauce.?

Came in tonight at 9:05. They said it was too late to be seated. The sign or the door, their menus, and the internet all say 10:00.This isn’t the only time we’ve had service issues there. Sometimes they tell us they don’t wanna make certain items because it’s “too much work“.The food is good, but there are plenty of other sushi restaurants in town, at least 20 of them, and they don’t make us feel like a burden.

Osaka was a pleasant surprise … excellent food, good atmosphere, nice people!

We used a Groupon to get the full experience. I had the Osaka Roll which came on a flaming plate for $15!

One of my favorite restaurants in town. Great atmosphere and even better food. It's a nice quiet place to go. The sushi is all great and I live the pork katsu. Everyone there is always nice and I've never had a bad meal here.

My favorite sushi spot! I get take out from here on a weekly basis and the staff has always been prompt and polite and the food is delicious. You must try the Road of texas roll- it’s amazing! There is a recent review from S Lou that should be ignored, I reported it. I looked at their other reviews and they seem to be on a mission to tear down local businesses with ridiculous and exaggerated claims. Believe me when I say, the staff is absolutely wonderful especially given the circumstances of the pandemic. Thanks Osaka for always creating a wonderful experience!

If they dare get something wrong the server, she throws a tantrum. I was just pointing out that, that wasn't what I ordered and she hated having to throw something out and remake it when it's clearly their fault. She actually pitched the plate in the bucket of dirty dishes. I was shocked. It sounded like it broke. I never got upset, just merely pointed out on my menu that I checked. She hated that. I don't think I've ever seen a server act so mean. There are so many sushi restaurants in Louisville that I will be trying now. They not only lost a customer that day, they also lost my daughter as a customer. We would eat lunch there at least once a week and she would get take out at least twice a week.

Phenomenal...Osaka Roll comes on a flaming dish so fun...Big Bang roll is Fire ? Ginger salad is up there with the very best

Sake was good and Sapporo was served with an iced mug. Order the osaka roll and it was good as well

Osaka is a borderline hole in the wall restaurant in one of the greater Louisville area's historic districts. The sushi is TOP NOTCH. I would say right on par with Wild Ginger, or possibly better, depending on the day.The menu is varied enough, although several of the rolls share very similar ingredients (cream cheese and crab are in quite a few, with only the topping fish and any sauce being different). The good thing is that everything we tried was of superior quality. And all of the standard offerings are there. Osaka does have a few items that give them their own flair, but overall it's just a solid (but standard fare) sushi shop. I have not tried other items on the menu so I cannot comment on the quality of their hibachi or noodles or anything else.If you do like sushi, I highly recommend trying Osaka to see if it's worth adding into your rotation. It's a bit of a drive for us, but no further than Bardstown.
