We found out about this neighborhood Bar and grill because of our walking tour with Louisville Historic Tours. What a great place! Food and service were excellent.
Food was great for bar food standards.Service was slower than we would like and the waitress forgot to refill our water and did not check on us regularly. Outside seating was nice but they do not allow you to rearrange tables and we had a large party so had to wait for a table to open up. Definitely recommend the truffle fries, burgers and wings! The wings were the favorite of the table. The pickle spears were a 6/10. I heard great things about the mushroom fries but they were out of them when we went (they must be good!). Good neighborhood spot to check out! Follow us for more restaurant reviews and food photography!
This isn’t just neighborhood staple… it’s damn near iconic. The menu selection is nice but the taste is AH MAZING! I’ll be enjoying The Tavern salad (with an out of this world vinaigrette) and the Double Stacked Grilled Cheese Sandwich (with four cheese and cartelized onions) with fries! Please don’t sleep on this neighborhood gem!!! Go by and enjoy?? thank me later ‼️
Had an incredible time. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking to have fun in a low key environment. Can't wait to come back.
The Old Fashioned was disgusting, but the Mule was delicious. My wife and I meals were fantastic. Great place. Will go again. More thing: the kitchen was clean. Brownie points.
I found this place while on a travel contract. When my wife and friends came up to visit, I thought of this tavern. We had a great time watching March Madness, tasting bourbons and munching on snacks. The atmosphere is comfortable for families and adult groups. I plan to stop in here a few more times before my contract ends!
Good food and good vibes. The staff were friendly and checked on took orders quickly. The burger tasted delicious and was ready in a reasonable time. The tavern was clean and had a great atmosphere. Price was extremely reasonable.
Sad to leave this review. I went to The Tavern about once a week for the last year. Today, i wanted to enjoy the nice weather and sit outside. I was by myself and the 2 2-top tables were taken so i sat at one of the 2 open 4-tops (open seating for their patio). Waiter came and told me i had to leave becaue it was a 4-top and i was by myself. Told me i could sit inside at the bar. So, i politely left and will not be back. You have just lost a regular customer - so hopefully the 2 to 4 people that sit at that table (if the patio ever fills) is worth that to you!
We had burgers and chicken strips and both were EXCELLENT. Delicious fries. Great atmosphere and great service. Price point was good too! My meal with a water was just $15! Definitely would go back.
My husband and our 2 boys, 14 and 11, are in town for the weekend and decided on this place for dinner - excellent choice! Really nice atmosphere. We were seated quickly and had a fabulous server. I didn't catch her name but she had had dark, curly hair. I had a cocktail, the "blackberry bourbon bash" and it was insanely good. My husband had the Buffalo chicken sandwich and said it was very good. I had the "fancy pants" burger and it was out of this world!! I had the Parmesan truffle fries on the side, and I will say I probably could've gone with regular fries and saved the up charge. Truffle fries are never as good as I think they're going to be, no reflection on the restaurant. Kids ate off the kids menu but no complaints, they hovered their food. The bill was more than reasonable for a family of four! We'll definitely go back if we come to Louisville again
