Excellent beer. Food used to also be excellent but is middling now. Most recent visit the kale salad was so oversauced that I could barely keep down a bite and my burger was extremely overcooked.
Wonderful service and food was tasty. I got the local burger and my wife got the classic burger, both were tasty and good. We also order the pub pretzel and fried smelt and they were also tasty. They make very good drinks too. Old fashioned and Louisville Swill were very good. Look forward to coming back when we visit Louisville again!
My husband and I had our wedding reception at Monnik and we couldn't be happier! Courtney was very helpful during the planning process, and everyone who helped us on our wedding went above and beyond to make our day special. The food was amazing, especially the chicken, which our guests loved. The staff even went out of their way to get champagne for us for our toasts. Thank you so much, Monnik! We can't wait to be back!
4 stars for the staff that were nice people and put up with a needy, whiny man upset to sit outside and wait 5 minutes before getting waited on.1 star for the food.We just moved back from Germany and we’re disappointed in the take on German dishes. There’s unfortunately no German style Weissbier or anything close; just some run of the mill American beers. I went thinking they had Schweinebraten because someone else posted a photo showing it in the menu, and it was my wife’s favorite dish in Bavaria. Unfortunately the closest German dish they had was a Schnitzel; it was dry, fried too long (almost burnt), and served in a bowl with raw potatoes covered in cole slaw (supposed to be Kartoffelsalat but it was not a good attempt). We also tried one of their pretzels but were again disappointed. It was not a pretzel, but a cake shaped like a pretzel, covered in salt, and served with some weird cheese and watery mustard (by the way, if you ask for mustard for a pretzel in Bavaria they will look at you funny…mustard is for weißwürste, not the pretzel).I recommend removing the Germanic dishes unless the cook can make them authentically and respect the culture they’re from.
We love this place! The food is always fantastic, we had a number of dishes and the daily pickles are so good! The beer is really enjoyable, we've loved their signature brews. The best part has been the staff. They've been lovely. Toni was so kind and even interacted with our little 2 year old. She has great suggestions. And Jeremy is the best waiter we've ever had. He took greta care of us on a rainy evening, had plans for if it started pouring, and was so kind. Highly recommend this place!
The food was good. The service was not my favorite. We wanted so much to like it, because we had just been on the road for almost 6 hours. It just took forever for anyone to get our drink orders and no one really seemed happy to be there. We ordered the peach cobbler, and when our server came to check on us, she asked us if we liked it, and my husband politely said it was not his favorite. (He believes in honesty ?) It seemed obvious that the honesty was not necessarily appreciated, as we didn’t see our server again after that.
This restaurant had very much a casual neighbourhood feel to it. Had dinner here - a mixture of appetizers and mains - and everything was delicious. The food was also well complimented by the beet and staffs ere very friendly and helpful with their recommendations. Very laid back and we did not feel at least rushed. Would recommend!
Monnik has an awesome selection of beers, delicious food, and a great atmosphere! I would definitely recommend giving this place a chance if you are in the area!
Perfect place for brunch!Definitely worth a visit.Great staff and robust drink / beer selections
All I can say is WOW! First time here. Had 3 flights plus a sample (10 total) of multiple styles and everything was amazing! The thing I liked most was that the beers were all great representations of their styles. Nothing fancy, just great at what they said they were. My personal favorites were the Pomme & Cassis (black current apple cider), Red Crown ( a beautiful cranberry gose), and Mild George (a near perfect English brown ale). I highly recommend this place for anyone that appreciates classic styles. As for the food, I only had the Brussels and bacon, but they were equally incredible! I will definitely be back!
