As a child, coming to Mike’s was a real treat. I remember white concrete tables and string lights during hot summer nights. The food was always excellent with flaky fish and onion rings that would make your tongue beat your mouth in happiness. Today I was disappointed. The portions were huge but the fish was tough. The first, onion rings, and hush puppies were good. However, the restaurant was dirty, the outdoor area was extremely littered, and the restrooms were pretty gross.
Impressive amount of people and outside tables, pretty clean, nice bathrooms, great atmosphere. It's near the river though we didn't take the walk to see it. Food portions were large, so was the price. But here's the rub. The fried fish wasn't hot and the fries were cold. Amazing for the volume of food they were turning out. How was it even possible to serve cold fries with this volume? Restaurants, hot fries always!!
Mike's is happening. Still offering great fish. Can't comment on other main dishes because I always get the fish! Sides are fine and atmosphere can a little too busy (don't care for outside speakers announcing who's dinner is ready). Enjoyed the entertainment as provided. Service is not fast but you'll see the staff tries to meet the needs of very large crowds. During the summer it's the craziest. Still it's somewhere to go enjoy the fried fish. Don't forget to take a walk over the flood wall to see the river if your in good health. It's a little hike. All in all, Mike's continues to one of Louisville's historic restaurants.
Our parents love it so it's our place to go too. Long wait is expected because of its popularity. Our self-served order, to pick up and dine outside was about 30-40 min. The food wasn't as hot as it usually was. The rolled oyster was as good as usual, but my chicken livers were burned, and not hot. They were delicious last time though.
Mike Linnig's is a family tradition for us. If you aren't in the mood for fried food, I wouldn't suggest this place for you. We came ready to feast. The specialty is the fish sandwich. So good! Hush puppies.... to die for...... Onion rings.... Yum! They are very busy. They have the ability to seat huge parties outside. Be prepared to wait. Good things come to those who wait. Come for an afternoon, stay, and enjoy. The kids can play on the playground; the adults can enjoy the bar. Love this place! Tastes like home.
Today was my first time going, I went with some family for a car show and I must say I was not disappointed. The service was great, very friendly staff. The food was really good and they give you a lot more than you would expect. I was able to get full and still had more left over than I ate! There were eight of us and we all ate for under $200. It's definitely more than worth the price. The atmosphere was great, very well decorated on the inside and beautiful tree carvings on the outside. They offer outdoor dining too, picnic tables or gazebos. Also a playground for the kids with surrounding place to eat out back. They host car shows regularly with raffles and t-shirts with a live band so you can bring the family down for a meal and a good time. Plus it's right next to a good walking trail that connects to the riverview park with beautiful sights to see. Overall a great place, I highly recommend!

The food was awesome! We got the sampler, could easily feed four people. I know what I'm having for lunch tomorrow, leftovers! It was cold today so we are inside but they have many places to eat outside when it gets warmer. Lisa was it server she was friendly and prompt. The food took a bit to get to our table but that was expected since we dined during the busy time. The third picture is when we took the top layer of fish off wanted to show what was hiding underneath.
I am a forty-five + year customer. Our order was taken at 4:10 Saturday and Our food arrived at table at 6: 20. I do not mind waiting for good food. It was not good. We spent 65.00+ for our food for two people. The fries and onion rings were cold. The broiled fish was cold and Rubbery. The rest of food was lukewarm. Ask who was supposed to be Manager about hold up. No comment. In other words, did not care. There were seven of us LONG TIME CUSTOMERS that will not be back. That is sad. I know they can afford to lose a few customers, but it is sad. The new generation does not care. I even wonder if it is still family owned. We knew the generation before these, and they were great. Everything changes over time but not always for the best.
Great food, rude staff and very busy! Waited 55 minutes on to go order and you can no longer call your to go order in nor do it online like most of the places in the world! Great food tho! Worth the wait in my opinion!
