The Founders’ Tour was very enjoyable. Not too long, not too short, just enough details and history. Loved the tasting of unusual, not-always- available whiskeys.Good job, Atticus! Your enthusiasm was appreciated.
What an experience. We had to wait a bit to go up the elevator. Once we arrived upstairs our seats were ready with water and a snack tray with pretzels, banana chips and corn nuts. They have a well crafted selection of cocktails and multiple flight options to choose from. Everything is on point. Everyone behind the bar gave attention to our needs. Top notch.
We had a lovely experience at Michter’s! Emily was a knowledgeable and engaging tour guide. She explained things really well in ways that were accesible and not overly complicated. Delicious whiskey, rye, and bourbon! I highly recommend!
Atticus! Amazing guide to the whole Michter’s experience. Nothing felt scripted, he was engaging and personable, truly a pleasure to tour with. A clear highlight amidst all the bourbon tourism we’ve done. Had no expectations going in and became an instant Michter’s fan. Their cocktail lounge is exquisite as well, go check that out after the tour. An obvious stop on whiskey row.
IF you can go to ONE downtown Louisville distillery make it MICHTER'S! Make sure you see Annie Mae, while all the employees are so helpful and kind she is THE BEST!! I love Annie Mae , if she lived in Florida Id hire her! I told this to the GM, Nick Peoples who by the way was at the register, he's a regular guy who blends right in with all of the helpful kind people there! The tours are outstanding, I have done the tours both times while in Louisville! You do learn about the old building that this distillery is housed in (really cool) along with info on their mash bill etc. You can usually find a great selection of Michter's finest along with cool merchandise! Think Eat sleep drink Michters! Make sure you find your way in the elevator to head upstairs to the bar...OMG!!!!! BEST manhattan Ive ever had...and of course some hard to find tastes!!!There is just not enough I can honestly say about Annie Mae and Michters! OH try the Founders tour if you get a chance...you get to taste some REALLY good bourbons and rye!
Delicious cocktails and great mocktails if you prefer. They take reservations for the tours, when we called they were already full for the day so we opted for their 2nd floor bar. Great ambiance, not crowded at all. There was a tiny wait to head up but it honestly was much shorter than quoted. Would love to try their tour next time. Would recommend the bar!
Amazing experience and distillery! Hands down best staff & team! Vicky is so wonderful and helpful. Makes you feel welcomed immediately and has a passion for the business. Chelsea was great at walking us through the Fort Nelson fill your own bottle! The rest of the staff up front and throughout were so nice and there to answer any and all questions or show you around. Can’t wait to go back!
This tour was very compact, meaning you didn’t do a lot of walking at all. However it was very informative with lots to see. The building has lots of character and everyone working there was super friendly and helpful. Our tasting was fun and our tour guide was very knowledgeable.
Nice destination with tours and bar area with flights and drinks. Had the basic flight and enjoyed the rye. Bourbon was ok but the smell of the mash was very nostalgic.
Michter’s Fort Nelson Distillery offers a great overview of the whiskey-making process, complete with (real, but small) fermentation tanks and their iconic pot still. Our guide Atticus gave a great overview of the grains and milling process, the effect of wood on whiskey, and more. But the best part is the tasting at Michter’s. Along with a bourbon and wheated whiskey, we tasted three different ryes with the same age and mashbill — the only difference was the ABV. It was fascinating to taste how alcohol percentage affects the overall taste. If you can, sign up to bottle your own whiskey — it’s surprisingly fun if you can get a spot.
