It was pretty good bbq. The place looks like a big barn which is very cool. Service could’ve been a bit quicker but I understand waiter was new but nothing major.
After coming here for 20+ years, sadly, this location has really gone downhill. Service is almost non-existent and the food was mediocre, at best. I ordered the brisket sandwich, which I was told was chopped brisket. It arrived thick sliced and dried out. Sent it back for a pulled pork sandwich which wasn’t much better. Buns and Texas toast were stale and the sweet tea was warm. Sever never asked us if we wanted refills - had to ask. Really hope to see this old favorite return to being one of the best BBQ places in town. Extremely disappointing.
Mark's Feed Store is one of the top-rated BBQ joints in Louisville, showing up in almost every "10 ten BBQ in Louisville " list that I googled. I was excited to try this place as I had a tremendous experience at another local BBQ place the night before. I ordered a combo plate that gives you a sampling of 4 of their meats--3 ribs, pulled pork, brisket and honey wings. I got the fries and mac n cheese for my two sides. IMO, the reason to come to Mark's---the ribs. Fantastic flavor, moist and meaty. Hands down my favorite of the 4 meats--5 stars. Next the honey wings. It had lots of breading, but was still so good. The honey sauce makes these wings next level good. I would've liked a little heat with the honey but still 5 stars for the wings. Next, the pulled pork wasn't bad, it was just average, not a ton of smoked flavor. 3 stars for the pork. Then comes the brisket. It was more like a pot roast texture, stringy. It was dry and lacked flavor. I was disappointed. The sides were good with the fries being better than the mac n cheese, but both good. Their original sauce is mustard based and was very, very good. Their red sauce was ok. Service was good with extra points for the super perky hostess. Also, Mark's is reasonably priced for BBQ. I'd come back for the ribs and wings for sure. Maybe it was an off night for the other meats.
Great food. Friendly staff. Quick service. Families welcome.
Just carried out a "gallon" of burgoo and it was quite bit short of a full gallon. A bit disappointing since we have ordered this before.
This is high quality southern barbecue fare. There is always plenty of food to fill you up at a fair price. Our server was always available when needed and very helpful with getting our dinner ordered and served. I had their buttermilk pie and it was comparable to the same item ordered at a fancier place. Perfect restaurant for a family dinner!
Dinner at the Middletown, KY location of Mark's Feed Barn was a great experience. It was a Friday night, so there was a bit of a wait, but nothing excessive. And definitely worth the wait. The food was very good. High quality and plentiful. The service was also good. The manager, Edgar Schulz, was very friendly, making us feel welcome and appreciated. We will definitely stop again when in the Louisville area.
We had Mark's Feed Store supply the food for a lunch meeting. They provide more than enough food. And portions are more than generous. For the money, you'll be hard pressed to find a place of more value. And, the food is absolutely delicious! If you like BBQ, Mark's is the place to go!
Great food and service at a moderate price. Rustic comfortable atmosphere and spirits. Wide variety of food and drink choices with a focus on BBQ. You will want to try the Kentucky Burgoo, one of the best stews we have ever had! If that isn't enough, Monday is free dessert night.
Best coleslaw in town. Huge portions. I made 3 sandwiches with the brisket. Mac and cheese was super cheesy. Fast service for Togo, I was in and out in 8 mins (without ordering before arrival) Thanks Mark's Feed Store! I would not personally dine in at this location as it's very popular and a little cramped for my style. It's popular for a reason though. I sat at the bar while waiting and it was nice not sitting by the door.
