When you don’t need to add sauce on your BBQ you know it’s exceptional!! Love the atmosphere the great customer service!! Mr. Bob and his team are amazing. Smells so good ❤️❤️
Just moved to this area of town and had never heard of City Barbecue. I intended to order from a place a hair closer, but they didn’t offer online ordering. City was next in line and we had THE SMOOTHEST curbside pickup experience. It was literally waiting for us as we pulled up! Not only that, but everything was excellent. Fresh, tender, perfect. I can honestly say, the best BBQ I’ve had in Louisville. Looks like we’ve found our new place!
We have a City closer to where I live in NKY and it is consistently good to great especially when it comes to their brisket. After trying 3 other BBQ joints in Louisville during my visit to Louisville, I had to come to City. Ordered the Pick 2 Meats then ordered 2 sides. Got brisket and pulled pork then fries and Collards for my sides. It was rib night so threw in 3 ribs. Ribs were smoke flavored and moist, not fall off the bone moist, but great outside crunchiness with moist meat inside. The sliced brisket was great with that melt in your mouth fattiness that makes brisket so good. The pulled pork was moist, but lacked flavor. It was good, but not my fave. Fries excellent as always and the Collards were appropriately cooked and seasoned. Portion sizes pretty good.Staff at counter were nice. If I could give 4.5 stars I would. VERY GOOD BBQ.
This is one of the best restaurants I have had the pleasure of eating at ever! The food is always excellent, and the staff is phenomenal, especially Bob! Bob has become great friends with myself and my co-workers, and always greats us by name and takes the time to walk around and check on everyone while eating, and always makes any mistake right! Bob is such an amazing employee and I’m sure any place would be more than happy to have him. There is an excellent outside eating area if the weather is nice and they are always fully stocked up. One of the best parts about the place is the food is made right in front of your eyes! Don’t hesitate to try it!
The staff was super friendly, especially the manager Bob. Now let's talk about the food...the pulled pork was super juicy and full of flavor, the smoked turkey was the most tender I've ever had. The green beans, mac n cheese, and corn pudding were well seasoned and cooked just right. Last but not least the banana pudding OMG! It's safe to say our experience here was amazing! We will definitely be back!
From the moment we arrived to the last second of our visit it was amazing. The restaurant was extremely clean. The food was quickly and flawlessly prepared. The staff was pleasant and extremely helpful.The portions were generous and the flavors were spot on. The selection of sauces was perfect for all the different preferences represented in our party. The brisket was absolutely perfect and almost melted on the tongue. This was one of my best dining experiences in all of Louisville, and hands down the top BBQ around.
We had a very bad experience ordering for take out here. We had always done this using the app in the past, and it would work well. This time however, it was awful. The app said that our order would be ready in 20 minutes. When we arrived 20 minutes later and went inside to try to get our take-out order, there was huge number of people waiting to get their order, and no one at the take out counter to talk to to find out what was going on with our order. This was the day before Easter and they were obviously swamped with take-out orders. I understand this and I also realize that there are tough staffing shortages everywhere. But dining room customers were coming in and ordering and getting their food right away while the take-out crowd was waiting and waiting, and there was no way to know where you were in the queue or how much longer it would be. The app should have warned us about the long wait but did not. Finally, I went to the counter where they were taking dine-in orders and asked about our take-out order. I was told that it would take another 30 minutes and that there were 8 people ahead of me. If I had waited, that would mean it would have been well overr an hour before out meal was ready. If the app had told us the true estimated wait time, we could have planned better when to arrive or whether we wanted to wait. But the app did not do that. And there was no way to know when the order was ready. We waited forever watching dine-in customers get their food fairly quickly, while we take-out folks were spilling out the door waiting. It really upset us and we will likely not order here again because of this experience. if you are order for take-out or curbside using the app, do not believe the pickup time. You may be waiting a VERY long time with no ideal how long it will take...
Bob was fantastic! He explained menu and allowed us to sample some sides. He also checked on us while dining. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was amazing!
First time ordering from City Barbeque and Catering.Pulled pork melted in my mouth.Even ate it without the bun just so I could get the full taste and I love bread. Would love to have had one container of sauce per sandwich.Potato salad was creamy and seasoned perfectly. Hopefully it comes in larger container for gatherings.French fries tasted good. They did not travel well. Probably better in house.I was so pleasantly full that I will eat my salad tomorrow. Looks fresh.Thank you for a very nice dinner. ??
While I didn't have barbeque while I was here, I definitely recommend the Nashville hot tenders with honey mustard sauce. Went well with fries and cornbread. A nice barbeque joint and the service was very friendly and on top of everything.
