The staff was very friendlyThe food was so good. The large chicken salad was fresh and big enough to share and split almost into three servings. The homemade butter milk ranch was fantastic. The fried chicken was cooked perfectly, well seasoned and crispy. We also tried the fried mushrooms…..I am here to tell you they were the best fried mushrooms I have ever tried in the past.Definitely worth it if you love some fried mushrooms.

We heard about the great food so when we were in town, we stopped by to give it a try. It was a Sunday so it was crowded and we had to wait 45 minutes. We decided to squeeze in to the crowded bar for a couple of drinks. If our experience ended here, I would be giving this restaurant 1 star. There were two bartenders, one older gentleman and one younger man. We ended up with the younger one. Horrible personality, made it seem like we were bothering him. We finally got called for a table. Now everything turned for the better. Our server was Nikki, a spectacular server with a great personality. Our food was cooked perfectly and we enjoyed the rest of our experience. Thanks to Nikki for bringing us back. I highly recommend the restaurant but question the bar.

Their jalapeño cheese grits and vinegar coleslaw are the best I e ever had!

Walking in the staff are pleasant and friendly, this is a community place. My first time here was enjoyable, they have a very nice and simple menu with your basic breakfast items (sausage, bacon, eggs, country ham, ect) as well as a "Funny Farm" (a Winchell's exclusive item and what I ordered). My server was phenomenal and asked if it was my first time, made recommendations and when I said I wasn't a fan of pepper jack cheese he let me know what substitutions I could make.I will be coming back, prices are on par with the service you will receive. This place isn't bright in the morning, music is playing and televisions are on (they play Wildcat games!), but it's very relaxed and laid back. Nothing is too loud or too bright.

Wow I can't believe I've been missing out on great food and friendly service. This was our first time eating at Winchell's and the food was great! Everything was very hot and delicious. My daughter and husband love the bread pudding which was a plus after a great meal. It was so much it was lunch and dinner. My daughter actually bought her first bar drink that day. Definitely will visit with more friends and family. Hats off to the cooks.

My husband and I had lunch with his brother and his wife. We placed our order . The waiter had a problem with his pants. They were hanging so low we wondered if he would be able to keep them up. The apron was at the waist but pants were trying to fall off. It doesn't seem like you would want waiters or waitress's to dress this shabby in what is suppose to be a nice restaurant. I had the classic club without the turkey and bacon cooked crisp. It was served as ordered but it was so dry I had to ask for mayo. It came with chips but they didn't taste like homemade to me. My husband had the chicken livers at $15.99. They came with gravy and he had fries and vinegar cold slaw. He said they were okay but they had to be cut with a knife. They weren't tender like Ramsey's. My sister-in-law had the reuben with fries and it must have been okay because she didn't say anything about the food. My brother in law has the cheeseburger and fries and coffee. He had to catch the waiter's attention to get some cream for his coffee. We also had to ask for napkins and mayo. We left a generous tip so maybe the waiter can get some pants that fit. The total for our bill was $61 plus tip. If you want to give it a try then you should. Just make sure you have a lot of money for lunch. We were there before the lunch menu went into effect at 2 pm.

Great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. In warmer months its right behind the best Farmers Market in town (Sunday mornings) and may be busy but its absolutely worth the short wait. Numerous TVs with a variety of sports available for viewing. Brunch is amazing with Mimosas and an amazing offering of entrees. It's hard to pick one. My favorite brunch item is the Winchells Hot Chicken Stack. A literal stack starting with a buttermilk pancake covered in amazing kicking jalapeno cheese grits then 3 juicy Nashville HOT hand breaded chicken strips topped with 2 eggs over medium and pickle spears on the side.... If you think you don't like grits... you are wrong about these... perfect.. They also have a wide variety of bourbon, cocktails and beer. Our favorite sever Brian makes our weekend Brunch so much fun.

First time for breakfast. Read several reviews about the biscuits and gravy, and they were right. Some of the best I've ever tried in town thus far. I was a little disappointed they weren't able to do scrambled egg whites, as the yolks upset my stomach. The home fries were perfect, big and crispy outside with tender potato on the inside. We got a little bit of everything so we got to try the bacon, sausage and country ham and all were delicious. Definitely coming back for more breakfasts. Maybe even tomorrow...

A late Sunday lunch brought Fat Man Reviews to Winchell's Restaurant & Bar in Lexington, KY. Winchell's is a family owned sports bar that offers standard pub grub and Southern favorites. The dishes are made fresh and sourced locally. We started with the Pork Quesadillas. This comes with pulled pork, pepper jack, cheddar cheese in grilled flour tortilla. It is also served with sour cream and BBQ sauce. The tortilla is grilled about perfect, both cheeses were melted amazingly, and the pork had a wonderful, slightly sweet flavor. I do not believe it is smoked, but it was great nonetheless. The one knock I will give this dish is that the BBQ sauce arrived hot and did not add to the dish.My fiancé tried the B.L.T. It comes with Apple wood bacon, lettuce tomato, on sourdough (white, wheat, rye also available), and fries. The bacon was think cut and cooked to a great crispy chewy bite, and the fries looked hand-cut and were fried pretty well. I have to say that the bread could have been toasted a bit longer, and the sandwich needed mayo. Other than that it was a really nice sandwich.I had the Chicken Livers dinner, with mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese and country gravy on both the livers and potatoes. The livers were breaded and fried perfectly, not chewy or tough and had a creaminess about them. The potatoes were mashed and seasoned well, with some solid pieces of potatoes as well. The gravy was interesting, as it was a sausage gravy. It worked well with both dishes. The macaroni was a huge let down. The noodles were over-cooked and the sauce was grainy and not edible.Winchell's Restaurant & Bar offers several appetizers, sandwiches, entrées and breakfast as well as a full bar. The service was good and they offer large portions. Winchell's Restaurant & Bar is Fat Man Approved.

We were driving through KY looking to try a few KY style foods. This place came up in a search for their Hot Brown and was open on New Year’s Day so we gave it a whirl and we’re pleased! The place was clean, had a nice menu selection, good food, and kind service. If you are looking for a bar and grill, I recommend this place!
