We went to Sonny's for a 2pm late lunch. Our server was quick and we ordered the $50 family feast. However I was disappointed with some of the food. The cornbread was about room temp. The cook forgot to add our brisket to the platter. When the brisket was brought it was partially charred on one side. The remainder of the food was great. The server forgot to bring our check until we flagged her down. Perhaps it was an off day because a prior trip to this location had been much better. I will go back but another trip like this one will force me to drive to another location for my BBQ.
We ordered take-out and although the fries, potato and slaw were good enough, the meat was inedible. I ordered the leaner sliced brisket, and it was almost all fat and gristle (see pic). My spouse ordered chopped brisket, and it was even grosser! We're super disappointed, given we'd had a previously poor experience, and were given credit to give them an opportunity to get it right, and they fell far short.Additionally, on our previous ordering experience, no one knew where to find the allergies (like gluten) in the store, so we had to use the website to order! I know it's super hard to find staff right now, but even they admitted their training was seriously deficient!
Food was fantastic, atmosphere was just as nice, and service was great as well. If you like BBQ then Sonny's is a must.
We were very happy with the food and the service. We ordered the Pork 3 Ways and the Chicken and pork. It was very tender, smokey, and juicy. The ribs were amazing! The BBQ egg rolls are also great and the sizzlin' BBQ sauce can be it's own food group...No joke, we had to buy a bottle of it before we left.
We were so excited to hear that Sonny's was coming to Lexington. Unfortunately, we have tried it several times and every time there has been an issue. When I got the brisket grilled cheese the bread was super soggy. Another time, we got take out and had ordered online. We didn't get the order until 30 minutes past the stated time and it was cold. Most recently, we went in and waited nearly 10 minutes before a waitress came over. We were just about to walk out. Also, the baked potato was burned.
AMAZING BBQ! They don't charge for BBQ sauce, they have several. The chicken is great, great flavor! Sides are amazing...they have All you can eat options. Great prices. The service isnt great though. A lot of employees standing around talking and not doing their jobs. Anyway....I want to come here every night!

I recommend any BBQ lover while in Lexington to Sonny’s BBQ. Well priced menu and the food is delicious. Great atmosphere for family and friends. Great BBQ
great waitress but the food was terrible. Ribs was half cooked. I could see cooks in back the did not have anything in their heads ( hats/hairnets) just hanging down braids dangling, etc. Lady at bar was working and couple times she came from bk linking her fingers and continue waiting on customers (African american). The worse visit I've ever been to a Sonneys. A visit from health dept is needed. Also got a brisket sandwich came out cold cheese was not melted and bread was cold. . fries were actually good.
You would be making a HUGE mistake by NOT eating here! It is absolutely the best food….friendly service and good people. Definitely one of the absolute best
