Drove into town to dine in at El Rancho Tapatio. Our waitress was friendly and had great suggestions when asked what she would recommend. My husband got fajitas and I got a chicken quesadilla. I think my husband was looking for something a little different than what we find local to us, and driving 40+ minutes to El Rancho Tapatio proved the theory wrong. This is a great, local Mexican place with great service, no wait time when we went (mid evening), and good food!
I’m not sure how this place is so highly rated. Most of the reviews are without a shadow of a doubt fabricated. First off, we waited a long time for the food to come out. The fajitas came out first. No sizzle and no color. It was the blandest fajitas I ever had. The lettuce on the side was wilted, the beans flavorless, barely any sour cream and no guacamole. No sauces of any kind. The tacos were bone dry. The tamales were the wrong kind. We ordered green chicken and we got pork. I ordered empanadas thinking they were regular size empanadas and my waitress gave no indication that they were anything other than ordinary. They came out after the fajitas not before and lo and behold they are behemoth diapers of grease. I took one bite and I was disgusted. I can’t believe they let me order 5. Luckily I only wasted money on one drink which was the most cloyingly sweet horchata. Everything sucks. I DEEPLY REGRET BRINGING MY FAMILY HERE ON CINCO DE MAYO. I will be living in shame for the unforeseeable future. STAY AWAY. This place is a disgrace to the Mexican community, and culture.
My husband and I went here for dinner one night. It's in a tiny strip mall, and doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food is some of the best Latin food we've had (and my husband spent 6 months in Mexico, so he knows what's good and what isn't). Many of the families there were Spanish-speaking, as was the staff, but everyone was very friendly even though we were not locals. Highly recommend this if you want great food!
The food was cold. I order "fajitas", that I use to handle with care because is always burning ?...but not this time.colorful deception
Been going since it opened and tonight was likely the last time. Has consistently gone downhill since expanding; particularly in the area of service. Place was pretty empty at 5:30 but took forever to get a server to us plus no chips/salsa and she couldn’t have been less interested, we’ve had her before. The combo of inattentive/dismissive service with average food just ruins the experience. Love the service industry but it’s just not clicking here anymore
Ate there on a Tuesday and food was fabulous. It was so good, went on Friday and food was terrible. 2-for-1 margs are Monday and Tuesday.
El Rancho has been our favorite authentic Mexican restaurant since we moved here in 2014. I've explored deep into the menu and have yet to find something I don't like. We will always come back here. Give it a try - I bet you'll come back too.
This is by far the best Mexican restaurant in lexington!
Usually have the best experience at this place but yesterday wasn't the best. Had a different waiter than we've had before and service was sloooooow. Waited for ever for our waiter to take our drink order, didn't get chips and salsa forever, had to ask several times for our cheese dip and it still didn't come until after our food came (and was almost gone!) No apologies, etc. Hoping our next experience is back to normal. Love their tower Margaritas and the chimichangas were soooo good!
Great service and the best margaritas ever!
