Food is fantastic, atmosphere is plain but very clean.Definitely recommend for delicious Mexican food!If you like hot sauce, ask for the hot sauce sampler.
Wonderful Cinco de Mayo at El Charro! We have been several times and it never disappoints. They have great service and the food and drinks are THE best! The freshest of ingredients in their food and drinks - try the Skinny Margarita! Julio, one of the bartenders, always gives us great service even when dining at the bar! This is a place where the owner is involved and truly cares about each guest!
The food came out nice and hot. Our server, Amilcar was very helpful and knowledgeable with his suggestions. The Margarita flights are delicious.
Food was great from the lunch menu. And so was the margarita flight. Not your typical Mexican restaurant atmosphere, more of an upscale feel. Nonetheless, we will definitely be back to try their dinner menu.
This is a very good Mexican restaurant. I had the Chimichunga of which there were 3 meats to choose from. I got the ground beef. It came with a creamy cheese sauce and the Lunch Special included beans and rice. The server brought out the FRESH salsa with chips even before we ordered. We ordered a small guacamole with our meal and it was good.Personally I can't eat food that is too spicy. I was so glad I could eat here, the food was flavorful without fire in my mouth that often masks the kitchens ability to make tasty meals. The sidewalk entry had a ramp for handicapped and the double doors were nice and wide to enter. Tables and booths were inside.
I’m always looking for new places in Lexington. Decided to try El Charro for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. They had some of your traditional Mexican dishes but also some that I had never seen before. I tried a dish that was literally served inside a half of a pineapple. It was excellent. We’ll worth the try!
Super friendly staff, great food, and presentation you don’t normally get at a Mexican food restaurant. The regular salsa is a little runny but typical for a Mexican restaurant. It does taste good though. The verde is fresh and has a hot kick to it. The hot sauce has a great smoke flavor to it. It will make your forehead sweat. The enchiladas supremas come with 4 enchiladas: chicken, bean, beef, and cheese. All were flavorful and tasted great! The tres leches cake was the best I have had since I moved from San Antonio in 2011.
This was our first visit to El Charro, and since we live in the Hamburg area we decided to try the newest location on a Saturday night. Outstanding! Happy Hour is 4-7 every day and that gives you 2 for 1 house margaritas. Don’t be afraid of those; they use a better than expected tequila that my wife was quite pleased with. As for the food, it was excellent. The menu was large and varied, with something for anybody that likes Mexican cuisine. We ordered chicken fajitas and a “Pick Three” combo that had a chicken taco, cheese enchilada and a chili relleno. Both dishes came with rice and beans and were ample portions. Some of the fajita chicken and vegetables came home with us, but I wasn’t about to leave any of my combo there. The chili relleno might have been the best I’ve ever had. Prices were quite reasonable, and the service was A+. I believe we have found our new favorite Mexican restaurant in Lexington.
Best Mexican Food in Lexington… and we’ve tried them all.
Based on reviews on Tripadvisor, we requested Fajitas “El Charro” for two for takeout. We simply loved the dish – with a mixture of steak, chicken and large shrimp in a tasty sauce, refried beans, lettuce, guac and pico. We will order again!
