Fat Man Reviews made a return trip to Boonedogs Bar & Restaurant, which was the subject of the 1st review that would evolve into FMR. Boonedogs offers dressed up hot dogs, artisan sausage, craft beer and cocktails.I tried a Boone beer. It was light and refreshing with a slight hops finish. We started with the Boone Fries, made with waffle fries, tomatoes, jalapeños, bacon, sour cream, cheese sauce and green onions. The vegetables were fresh, and the jalapeños added a great heat punch. The fries were out of a bag but cooked and seasoned correctly. The green onions give the dish a pop and the cream adds a pleasant flavor as well. The bacon is thick cut but a little too chewy. The rue in the cheese sauce did not cook out, and you can still taste the flour. It is buttery, but there is also a weird sweetness to the sauce. My fiancé tried the Atomic Dog, made with cheddar jack cheese, fried jalapeños and chipotle mayo, and all beef hot dog on a lobster roll. The dog was cooked to perfection, the cheese is melted around the dog and adds a good mouth feel. The mayo is pretty spicy and lingers, but it is fantastic. The fried jalapeños are crunchy and bring more heat, the roll is soft with a good toast that holds the dog together and adds a slight sweetness to the bite.I tried the Italian, made with marinara, fresh mozzarella, marinated peppers, basil, house made Italian sausage on a hoagie bun. The bun is fresh, soft and a bit sweet. The mozzarella is fresh and adds creaminess. The marinara is a traditional style with a small amount of sweetness. The peppers are not cooked and cold but when combined in the bite it adds texture. The sausage was a little burnt on the ends and did not snap like other sausages that I have had. This was actually really nice because when eating the entire dish the sausage ate like a meatball, and it was really enjoyable. The basil really did not come through.Boonedogs has a really cool vibe inside and a huge patio yard area, which is dog friendly. They offer several hot dog or sausage combinations or a build your own option. The service is friendly. The Fat Man says the Boonedogs Bar & Restaurant is Fat Man Approved with 2 chins.

Saw this place as someone made a wonderful post on the Lexington Food Group Facebook group and decided I had to go check it out.Depending on where you are in Lexington this can be quite a trek to the far edge of Lexington on Old Richmond Rd.While this place looks pretty simple from the outside it has a great open style kitchen on the inside and you could watch every step of the food being cooked if you so desired and there is a Beautiful full bar on the inside. While your somewhat limited to some select meat options (All Beef Hot Dog, Sausage, Chorizo, Beyond and a few more) you have so many pre-done or Build your own combinations, even several bread options as the bun, that this menu can satisfy everyone! We ordered the Boone Fries (Pictured) as an appetizer and added a round of Ale8's. I ordered the Brunch (Sausage and Pancake on a stick with Bourbon Maple) this all came with Spicy grits and an egg and crazily I added a side of Chili. All of this tasted wonderful. My wife got the Pimento Dog (All Beef Hot Dog with Pimento cheese, bacon and pickled onions wrapped with Texas Toast as the bun) and she loved it. My daughter got the Sausage Beyond (Beyond sausage with a multitude of yummy veggies in a more traditional Bun) plus a side of Max n cheese and last but not least my son-in-law got a build your own Foot Long and added Chili, Slaw and Mustard with a side of Onion rings. Not only did everyone enjoy every bit of their meal but no one left hungry. We ended with my daughter grabbing the Cookie Sundae! Afterwards we enjoyed some Corn Hole together to wrap up a great (heavy) Lunch. This place is not a cheap place to go but it is reasonable. We ordered too much food not understanding the portion sizes but had no regrets and will definitely be back again!

The wife has been talking about a trip to Boonedogs for a couple of months now and we finally had some time on a perfect Friday afternoon. It looks like a cool place to hang out and drink with your friends. She started with a cider boy peach county cider and she loved it.Then to the main event she choose a Ranch Dog and as much as she wanted to love it, it was a bomb. The dog was small and was lost in the bread and slaw.It had no snap, the texture was mealy and it tasted like it had been soaking in water for a lot longer than it should have.Very disappointing. My cheeseburger was good. The toppings were fresh and plentiful. The waffle fries could have been hotter.Atmosphere and Service was a 4.But the Food was a 2.

Great food, drinks, and atmosphere! Cannot wait for better weather when we can enjoy the outdoor seating as well. We had a wonderful lunch, enjoying the Pimento Dog, onion rings, and the Brunch Dog. The Deep Fried Bourbon Balls were amazing!! The place filled up quickly with guests and the service stayed too-notch. Will definitely be returning!

Great food All Beef Hot Dogs (Artisan style)?(Get some BOONE FRIES) Trust me... Great service ??‍ Friendly (bring your dog)? Full ? bar/excellent bartenders, Live music ?, Amazing atmosphere... So many favorite things about this place. Check it out for yourself ?

Great little hidden gem here on the out skirts of town. Awesome bourbon and craft food selection. From your hand breaded corn dog to a bratwurst covered in onions and sauerkraut. His of operation has been shortened to only Friday and Saturday so that's the only negative I can find here.

After a long tiring drive the usual uncaring cookie cutter Burger joint just wouldn't do so we made wild whimsical cruise off the beaten path and Man a place greater than Oz did we find at BBR! Service A++ laid back friendly inviting atmosphere, and a very odd unique, verge of questionable menu. An amazing beyond huge whiskey selection ??. The food was so wonderful and filling, I can't even find the word's. So stop in and find out what I mean BEST WHIM EVER! Cheers

The 6 mile ride out of town is so scenic. This place is casual dining with upscale hot dogs and a crazy selection of bourbon. Definitely get the Boone fries. And the chow chow is quite good.

Waited 45 minutes for a wildly overpriced hot dog and waffle fries. “My” waitress never checked. Other waitress refused to check because it wasn’t their section. When my waitress finally checked, “the kitchen lost the order”. The order finally arrived ("They made it fresh"); the fries were cold and the hot dog tasted like it had been on a convenience store roaster for 2-3 days. My wife had the cauliflower salad. She said "it didn't taste right" and vomited twice on the drive home. Hell will freeze over before I stop here again.

Great service and Kentucky Proud food and beverage. I personally love it here because it’s so close to where I live. But even if you don’t live nearby, it’s definitely worth the trip. The selection of bourbon is awesome too.
