I came a couple yrs ago and food and service was so bad that I never came back. Well tonight all that changed!Food was amazing, I ordered the shrimp scampi and the shrimp was cooked perfect! For dessert I highly recommend the turtle cheesecake. Go on Mondays and ask for Trevor, so polite and served our table of 5 very well!!
I love the atmosphere here especially during the colder months! The roaring fire inside just makes for a great feel. And then there's the food...Some of the best I've ever had! I love their very simply house salad with their own house dressing. I usually get the spicy chicken and shrimp, but promised myself I'd get something different the next ime! Very courteous wait staff, too. Not quite 5 stars, but it doesn't miss by much!!
Curbside service was good. I got a steak and lobster ravioli special for $15.99. The steak was flavorful but a little tough. I also ordered it medium and should have ordered medium rare as it was slightly overdone for my tastes. There were only 3-4 pieces of ravioli but the were large and I enjoyed them. Only got a half loaf of bread and no dipping sauce. I was very disappointed as the bread and dipping sauce are what I was looking forward too.
I ordered a tiramisu expecting a pretty good sized slice but not massive. I don't think the 2X2 inch slice I received was worth the $8 and something I paid. This restaurant has gone down hill for years and I'd say now they are rock bottom.
No one came to our table for quite awhile after we were seated so I had to go back to her to ask her if a server knew we were there. VERY slow to get some beers we ordered and we were getting up to leave the restaurant when they were finally served. After that, our server was very attentive and we were able to order two kids' meals as we wanted no leftovers. Both our pasta meals were very good!
My husband ordered Lasagna take out. For $18 we got a half order of Lasagna and a half loaf of bread. After what we got in the past this was very disappointing.
I spent $60 on a meal that was horrible. The waitress was kind which was the only possitive thing. All we got were 2 entrees, wine and a salad. Everything was salty or burnt. The bread was crushed. I found a hair in my pasta. There were lipstick stains on my wine glass. I used to love johnny carinos! I don't know whats happened but it's awful don't go here!
Food was just ok, server was way over worked! At lunch time and only one server for the whole restaurant. Hostess wasn't a great help at all. We will probably not go back there. A very poorly run business ?! And I almost forgot what's with the bread coming with oil and pepper (no garlic) and had to get my own refill on my drink and my own Togo container. They desperately need new management!
What has happened? Did 2020 really take a toll on this restaurant? No more Italian pot roast. No warm soft but crispy bread ? that came out with the oil and somewhat crispy minced garlic? No Lambrusco! No Moscato? What happened..? I know Frankfort Kentucky didn’t have quite the variety of great food for my taste but atleast I used to have regular meals at certain places. I don’t even get the pleasure of that anymore. ? Pure disappointment! ? I hope for a miracle.
My experience at Johnny Carino's was AMAZING!!! The servers were extremely personable while still remaining efficient and the food was so well prepared. I had the fettuccine alfredo, basic I know, but it was so so good! I will certainly be returning here soon!
