Excellent BBQ in an establishment that serves veterans. It's a little off the beaten path and gives a little bit of a "bar" vibe when you first walk in but it's just fine for our family and the food was excellent.Good BBQ isn't cheap but the portion sizes were generous so I feel like the value is fair.Must try dishes include the rib "taco" and the dry rub wings. Give the Cole slaw a miss.
Great place to eat! From the very first time we walked in, we were handed samples of pulled pork, pulled chicken, pulled baby back ribs, and brisket....all smoked! It was so good that we had a hard time picking what kind of meat to get! We wanted all of them! We also tried a smoked egg! Yummy! I'm somewhat of a newbie to smoking, so I asked about how to smoke an egg. I was told how to do it and when we talked more about smoking, Guy (the owner), took me around and showed me the whole operation! So I went from being a first time customer to feeling like I've been part of the family for years, all in about 2 hours of time! Great operation! Great food! Great people! (Not necessarily in that order) You will have to decide for yourself, what you like the best about this place! You won't be disappointed! Thanks Guy, for everything! Rob McKee, from Michigan!
Due to road construction it was a little hard to find this place, but it was worth the trip. We were a group of 6 and had no problem getting a seat. You order your food and drinks at the bar, find your seat, the food is served and then you pay. The BBQ was tasty - especially the ribs.
This is an amazing BBQ experience. You walk up to the counter to order and the menu is on the wall to your left. When we first arrived we were given a sample platter to try the different meats, and proceeded to order from there. I got the half rack of baby back ribs, Mac and cheese, and sweet tea. They came out quickly and the ribs were huge! The seasoning was on point and I practically inhaled my food. Definitely recommend stopping by this place. The service is amazing and the staff very friendly, the atmosphere is fun, comfortable, and clean. Highly recommend!
Fantastic!! Best food I’ve had in a long time. It tasted like my grandparents food ,from the old days, down on the farm. Guy(the owner) gave me a tour of his custom smoker, a real great guy!!!My wife and I were treated like family. Great atmosphere, great, great food and ice cold beer. I can’t wait to go back!!!!UPDATE. My wife and I went back today, just like I said we would. Absolutely love this place !! Here’s a picture of some food and an ice cold beer. Best food in town. I appreciate the kindness shown to us there, really unheard of these days!!!!!!!!
Had big expectations based on the high reviews. The exterior was unassuming in appearance and the interior was a clutter of tables and mismatched chairs. There was an aroma of bbq smokers which gave a hint of hope for a tasty meal. With my family of four , we were ushered to an edge by the bar and directed to the wall menu to place our orders. Being our first time we took recommendations and I ordered the naked brisket and rib “platter”. My wife ordered the salad with rib meat, my one son ordered the special brisket/bacon melt sandwich ,and my other son ordered the Mac n cheese with brisket. After ordering we were given our drinks and told to sit anywhere. Our food arrived after some wait. My order was simply a pile of the two mixed meats placed atop a red and white checkered paper… that’s it. While the meats had good flavor my order was just a pile of meat with some grease residue. My sons melt was tasty -brisket , bacon, unknown cheese on what looked like Texas toast. My wife’s salad was basically some rib meat piled atop a bed of coleslaw with some avocado and hard boiled egg in a smallish rectangular paper boat, nice but unremarkable. And my other sons Mac n cheese with brisket came just as that. The Mac n cheese was tasty. On a whim I tried the chocolate covered bacon , which was greasy gross. I guess it’s either a love it/hate it item. There was an unkempt stage area that might’ve been used for live entertainment. There was a large bar area that encircled the food prep area. The lady who took our order was very nice. Overall the food and the presentations were just plain. Like I said , my dish was just a pile of meat on a paper skid. There was no imagination or pizzaz to any of our orders. It was a decent 2 star bbq experience at best.
Went for lunch and got our fill! Pulled pork sandwich and loaded tater (pulled pork). Thanks, Guy and crew! Never let down!!!
Found this restaurant during our family road trip…we asked ourselves if we were in the right spot since there was only a few cars and a few people on a Friday evening. Our fears were misplaced !!! We were directed to the end of the bar and given a sampling of their different meats….and then all of us chose different diners…the food was great and the service was better…the meat and sauces were excellent and their support for the military is awesome! One more thing …we grabbed a couple of their massive brownies for the road…they are some of the best brownies we have ever had!! Grab one, you will not be disappointed.
We had a stellar experience at Guy’s place! They interacted with us like old friends. They quickly found out we had never been there and offered our party of nine each a taste of three meats. The counter server, Rachel, stated she worked there quite awhile and was very friendly and knowledgeable! We all dove into the food too fast to think about taking photos. It is easy to enjoy all of the food-meats, sides and desserts are all exceptionally done! The portions we ordered were served in large cups which is unique but easy to serve around the table and easy to take home leftovers.
Absolutely incredible food! On our way from Chattanooga, TN to Grand Rapids, MI and stopped only because there was an accident on the expressway and it was lunch time. Sooo glad we did! Owner and my husband had the construction industry in common, so that was fun. Plus the waitress/bartender was a Rockstar!!! The Meat & Mac and the Brisket tacos were amazing! Will definitely stop again when our travels bring us through Florence, KY! THANK YOU for the amazing food and atmosphere ❤️
