Husband and I ate there tonight. It was delicious! The patio is fantastic! I enjoyed the Governors Gimlet and husband had the Suit and Tie Martini. Both cocktails were excellent! I also enjoyed a 3oz glass of Rambauer Chardonnay which was lovely! The Mediterranean shrimp skewer appetizer was very good, interesting flavor and presented like food art! I had the Ruby Red Trout and again presentation and flavor was exceptional! My husband had the chicken and was very flavorful and tender. We shared the berry cheesecake and it was creamy and decadent! I look forward to going back to Governors House. It is one of my new NKY favorites!
Reserved an upstairs room for a birthday party. The place was beautiful, the service was fantastic, and the food was amazing! Highly recommend.
I was really excited to try this place. They are new and working out kinks, so maybe things will get better. First, we were taken upstairs to a conference room type place. There was no music and it was just an awkward area with one large table and a few small tables. I did not like the atmosphere. The wine list was unimpressive. Would be nice to have a flight option being a wine bar, but they did not. Servers were very uninformed of menu details. But again they are new. Hope to give it another try this summer and have a different opinion.
My partner and I frequent the area and were so excited to stumble upon a place we hadn't been before! The ambiance of the place is great. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and food. My 'old man' was made perfectly and the bartender recommended a nice red for my partner which went perfectly with our pasta. The margherita flatbread was to die for. We plan to return in the future :)
What a treat! Great addition to the Riverside area of the Cov. Our local friend Mel is the bartender and the food is so good. Tried the fig flatbread, Asian chicken skewers and short rib nachos - all delicious! Saw lots of crazy good dishes headed out to the almost full restaurant. Great vibe, food and bar. Enjoy
It's great they restored this location, and it is probably quite attractive, but we only went through the long entry hallway, into the small back room. That room is nice, but small and can (and did) get quite noisy. The service was fine. The wine list is a little short for a place billed as a wine bar, but they had some good choices, and we ended up getting a very nice bottle of Italian red.Now - the food. Disappointing. Underline that. We had Caesar salads that were just OK. The entrees all had issues. The manicotti had nicely done pasta, but a very salty sauce that did not marry well with the other ingredients. The short ribs were very dry, with a sauce (fortunately not heavily laid on the dish) that appeared to come from a pouch. The Ravioli was supposed to have a squid ink sauce, but instead had a bland, thick, creamy sauce that dominated any hint of squid ink. There are a lot of great restaurants in this town that can deliver excellent and interesting pasta dishes. Unless Governor's House ups their game, we'll be patronizing those other establishments.
We enjoyed our dinner tonight.Interesting building and nice choice of entrees. We had Caesar Salad, Shrimp Scampi and Rainbow Vegetable Flatbread. All were very good. We will return. We did ask for bread and were told they did serve bread to table service.Didn’t understand that.We feel bread should be available with the entrees upon request even if there is a minimum charge.
Ouch.My dinner companion’s reviewed the food , my turn to share the non food issues.Did not have to wait for our table, which was in a smaller room towards the back. Seating arrangements a bit too cozy as we could hear other conversation’s- except our own.Another minor but noticeable glitch. Please take the time to properly inform staff about the wine- I’m not mistaken, you do advertise your establishment as a wine and food kitchen. Our server that night was ill equipped regarding wine descriptions. A little info before service begins would have made the difference. To sum it up, there are too many other restaurants’s That have gotten it right the first time to go to.I doubt I’ll be giving your establishment another go round.
Drink selection is on point! The ribs and prime rib special were good, too. The sides left something to be desired and the lava cake dessert was dry and not very lava-y. Would go back again for the service and drinks.
Enjoyed our dinner tonight. The Rainbow Vegetable Flatbread was delicious as was the Shrimp scampi and Caesar salad. We asked for bread and was told they do not have bread for table service. Don’t understand. I think bread should be available with the entrees. We will go back. Did enjoy dinner!
