We haven't found any decent BBQ in Ky since we moved here almost 2-years ago. We happened by Smokey Pig today and the brisket was flavorful and so tender. The sauce was really great also. Mayo slaw...Mmmm! If I have to nit pick, the brisket was cut a little too thin, which dries it out, but slopping that delicious sauce on... ? I also loved that it wasn't fatty. It's not Texas, but a very, very close 2nd. It was delicious! The customer service was excellent! Very friendly efficient staff!
We were excited to try Smokey Pig and it didn’t disappoint. We heard that they can sell out of food and to go early so we arrived when it opened on a Saturday and couldn’t believe how many cars were already there. People were coming out of the place with bags of food. We wanted to eat in and they have a small dining room and also a inside porch that over looks a green area with trees. You order at the widow and they prepare your food right in front of you while you are paying. Service was very friendly and fast. The brisket was tender and the pulled pork was different than what we were used to but still good. The sides(mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, baked beans) were all very good. They have TV’s for sporting events. A little drive out of town but worth the short drive.
My go to place for barbeque in Bowling Green. The staff here are always friendly and inviting. The food is great. I usually get the pulled pork it the shoulder and I'm never disappointed. But absolutely everything on the menu is worth trying. Try their sweet sauce it's the best in town. If you like it hot you have to get it dipped. Double dipped even. Lol
Excellent…would have been a 5 but the brisket was a bit fatty. Flavor was spot on and sides were all delicious!! I highly recommend the chicken breast. Great flavor and their mild and sweet BBQ sauces were among the best I’ve had! You know it’s good when you roll up and all the locals are there. Not a chain but I sure wish they were in my hometown!!
Usually this place is phenomenal, never have to worry about cold food. I mean this food is like some of the best, if not the best smoked food in town. But today unfortunately was a let down, now I'm not sure the reasoning but none the less as slow as it looked there was no reason it should have been. The lady at the window could have been a little more hospitable. Other than my brisket which is almost 14 bucks a plate, should not have been cold and the baked beans,. Also not sure why my hot sauce was liquid but it looked as if it had been mixed in water.
Stopped here just by chance. It looked like the great kind of hole in the wall place I am always excited to find. And it was good just not great. Portions were huge though and free drink refills. The staff was quick and fairly friendly. The pulled pork was really good and I liked the mac and cheese.
In town visiting friends and wanted to try the local BBQ. Delicious. Had the pork shoulder with Mac & Cheese and mayo slaw. Perfectly seasoned and smoked.
Went with the shoulder plate and would do it again! Heard that once you ate here you wouldn’t want any other BBQ. It was delish? They are super friendly and will give you a sample taste before you order. The guy on front of me picking up his HUGE work order said his team eats here every Saturday. Home in the wall place with BIG taste ?
Just WOW!These folks have it down pat.Quick service & awesome food.I consider myself a connoisseur of unrefined BBQ and this is, by far, THE best 'cue I've ever eaten. I'll be stopping by on every trip down and/or up I-65 between Ohio and Florida, might even make it a "Destination Lunch" ride on the HD.Wow!
Nice staff, clean interior with unique decorations, and every part of the plate I ordered was delicious. Would recommend for anyone looking for a sit down place to eat passing through Bowling Green.
