Great service! Being understanding for menu price increase, quantity of food for a mid priced entrées was not comparable to other nearby similar resteraunts. I ordered the signature "El Colonial Burrito" and felt like it was lacking filling. Taste was great but with price comparison felt like should've been stuffed with more ingredients. Tacos were much different with plenty of food for price.
I'm a new home owner to Ashland. I stopped in to checkout this restaurant while my husband was in Lowell's. I'm Hispanic so of course wanted to try this place. First of all everyone made me feel like family. And the food was so delicious and authentic. I can't believe this town has great Mexican food, it was not greasy. The Margaritas we're pretty darn good too. I will definitely be back in a few days. Like I said I'm Hispanic and haves travelled thru Mexico and this restaurant is so authentic and tasty and the staff are fantastic. This place is a Must
Every visit to El Colonial has been a positive experience for me. I love the menu options. The chips are average for a place like this, but the guac is what makes them the munchable snack that they are. I love the guacamole and if there is enough left I'll claim it and put it on my meal. Their burritos are good. The Spanish rice is good. Everything is good. And they are quick to refill your drink. El Colonial is very good, indeed.

My sister and I always wipe the tables with clorox wipes or some similar item when we go out to eat. We have eaten in quite a few restaurants and perform this same procedure. Most all wipes will become dirty like the tables have not been cleaned in quite a while or I have wiped my shoes with it. But, the numerous times we have eaten at El Colonial, the wipe is as Clean as it comes out of the package. Their tables are cleaner than any other. I always show the cloth to my sister, so she can vouch for it. Always amazed when wiping their tables. Keep up the good work, guys! Also, I love the food!!!

I hate that it has token me so long to find this place! I’m not usually a fan of most Mexican restaurants, because they all seem to be the same. El Colonial is different! Their menu has a lot of different items than I’m used to seeing on “traditional” menus. I got three different street tacos this evening, and I am in love!! Best tacos I’ve ever had! I can’t wait to go back! Great service, too!
Delicious food. Real alcohol (not just wine margaritas), friendly staff, cute ambiance.
