I ordered a spicy salmon roll, shrimp yakisoba, house salad and miso soup was included. The food was spoiled and for this genre of cuisine you need to be aware that this isn't a question of that discovery. Spoiled, expired, rotting. Let's get right to it. The spicy salmon sushi roll was inspected first. As I opened the lid it was the very overwhelming, musky odor. The salmon inside the roll was the texture of pulpy newspaper creating a minced type of filling. The seaweed was not sushi grade and the rice? Just a paste. Using the guidelines it is not just expired as the fish filling is definitely spoiled and due to the texture and very obvious sort of mucus/filmy/slime...the smell is a very reliable way to send the meal back, speak with the manager, owner and you as a consumer have the right to let the public know exactly what danger you were exposed to, document it, use the guidelines and do not allow a public restaurant get away with just a bad review. Bad food and expired, spoiled food and yes if the last two are blatant then would rotting food move you to being appalled. I could say negligence? We can clearly can see, smell and taste.I am obligated to file a full detailed report on what I was served, the condition of the food, details of the guidelines used to determine the approximate expired, spoiled, rotting time frame. The restaurant was closed when I called. If this was a bad fish on one dish, I would not be as alarmed and shocked. So the other: shrimp yakisoba, miso and two house salads. I opened the lid and I gagged, the thick almost jellied, sticky, slime. I swallowed the sour and milky texture building in my my mouth from the unmistakable stench. If you are being met with aggression, humiliation, any Nonsense? I pick up the shrimp and I just bite. It was the sickening pop of expired shrimp meat and I couldn't swallow the stringy texture of rotting meat that was not freshly made.So I paid 50 bucks for spoiled food. It was about an hour before closing. What other measures am I responsible? It depends on how much spoiled food, the type of food and if you ate the whole thing but one bite? Go to the ER. It's not joke. Don't go to bed angry.Yes no one wants to deal with restaurant negligence but how would you feel if there was a similar if not exact experience had posted just a few hours prior to you browsing the reviews?
I ate here for lunch and ordered the hibachi steak lunch special. It was a great portion and was delicious! The steak was cooked to my asking and was tender and seasoned well. My veggies were very good, probably my favorite part. We also ordered a Philadelphia roll with no cucumber and a spider roll, no cucumber, and cream cheese. I preferred the Philadelphia roll over the spider roll for sure. All in all, I was satisfied with what I ordered!
This place is AMAZING!!!!!! we did a pickup order tonight for our family, every item from start to finish was so delicious, clean and perfect! Thank you very much for the quality ingredients and great preparation. I'm so full I can't move but Im still full of energy and ready to move. This is now a new regular for my family and I...
Simply the best sushi you will get for the price in Wichita. You can’t go wrong here and the lunch specials are beyond awesome! I eat here very often and am always inviting friends. I’ve been to literally every other sushi restaurant in town and I can tell you that although many other have very good sushi also and in some cases even better I will tell you that none of them can beat the value here. Great sushi for great prices!
Tokyo is still one of my favorites in Wichita. It is our go to for sushi. The wait staff is very attentive and patient. They know there are so many great choices but they are also quick to notice when you are ready to order. My husband and I shared the spicy salmon dinner and ordered an extra soup and shared the salad. It was just enough and we brought a few home for the grandson. We ordered the pork dumplings. They were a little sticky, which is just perfect for dumplings. The filling was well spiced and savory - not bland at all. The salmon rolls were crunchy and fresh as always. Others at the table ordered the box dinner, the sushi dinner and special rolls. Everything was presented beautifully and tasted wonderful. I really can’t say enough positives about Tokyo. It is also very affordable, especially at lunch and on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
Best miso soup I have ever had. I ordered the grilled baby octopus which was kinda cool (it came in a martini glass for some reason).I also ordered the nigiri and sashimi combo which came out very well. It was presented nicely. The interior of the restaurant is cozy, and has some great decorations. Service was awesome. Will probably eat here again because I am a sushi addict.
Mediocre sushi. There are much better sushi restaurants in good ol' Wichita. I would give it another go on a half price night, but I'd never pay full price again for mediocre sushi. The shrimp tempura and the spider rolls were a big let down.
Justin, Justin, Justin. Shouting from the rooftops what a great experience we had. Our food was amazing!
Hosting was phenomenal! Food was even better, very wide selection. Great place for great food
Excellent Japanese restaurant. Friendly and welcoming staff. Very clean and modern. Great selection of various sushi and Japanese hibachi and other meals.
