Overall: It has been a long time since I visited On the Border. I had forgotten about whether this restaurant was good/bad. It will now be on my place to go for Mexican food.Service: Our waitress was very attentive and made sure we were taken care of. The food came out in a timely order.Food: I was pleasantly surprised that the salsa dip was so good. It almost reminded me of eating in Mexico. It could contend for the best salsa dip in Wichita. We ordered the Smokehouse Fajitas for two which was very delicious, but it was more than enough for two. The rib was comparable to many restaurants that specialized in ribs.Drink: No drinks ordered. The Bad: Nothing at the moment.
Everyone can appreciate the unlimited chip and salsa. I'm so glad On the Border has updated their menu with street taco options and more flavorful dishes. I wouldn't mind some more cilantro on the street tacos. I'm not a fan of the standard rice and beans there that come with the meal, normally, I would ask to replace them with Cilantro Rice or Black Bean instead. It makes a huge difference.
Ordered to give my fiancé more “fancy” Mexican dinner than the burrito place we usually go to. Immediately we both said “we should have went to the burrito place, would have been way better!” I ordered to go and put a specific time because I knew I wouldn’t be there right away. I showed up 15 min before the time I had scheduled and my food was sitting on the counter by the breezy cool door while raining hard out so my bag felt moist. I asked how long it had been there and the girl making drnks ignored my question and said “is it paid for? Have a nice night” Get home, which I live 5 min away and all of the food was cold. The quality was terrible, places like this always make me think “I should just cook every night” but I just wanted a break??♀️??♀️ Rice, flavorless with just pieces of regular corn and was so dry, tortillas to the enchiladas were rubber with the driest meat inside and the beef empanada was mush with nacho cheese. The flautas were advertised falsely, the picture shows four whole flautas, what we got was 2 broken in half and super dry/flavorless! Best bet we will not return! This cook needs to take one hard look at his day job and possible choose another career path!
great severice and respectful workers
Good but not great. The chips salsa and queso were all very good. Most of the other food was pretty good except for the Spanish rice and salsa verde. The rice is so incredibly greasy as to be inedible. There was a puddle of grease a literal quarter inch deep on my wife's plate. We thought the grease was oozing out of the tacos, but the server pointed out that it came from the rice.
If I could give less I would. I had to click a star in order for it to allow the review. Pathetic doesn't even begin to describe my experience. I waisted over 60 dollars on food that I was not reimbursed for. My entire order was incorrect. I will never return to this on the border. They seem to take their business as a joke.
We went for a fund raiser dinner and sat in the bar area. The beer wasn't quite right, but the food was good, and our server was the best.
Good for your typical American Mexican food. Salsa and queso are always a hit. Service was a smidgen slow but it was the Sunday lunch rush. Not all service staff were there yet because we got there as soon as they opened. Drinks were okay. They always have me coming back every few months though. Lol
Loved it! Excellent service. Enjoyed the big bowl of chips they give you with a side of guacamole and cheese dips which were delicious. Food was also great. I ordered a medium steak with beans, rice and enchiladas. No complaints. It was all cooked perfectly.
Food is general fine, not bad but not that impressed. The best thing about this place is customer service best, our waiter is not only funny but also respectful and care for our kid allergic.
