Family went for birthday get together. We had a table in the center of the restaurant. The place was extremely noisy with nothing to buffer the noise. We found we were unable to hear each other. No way could someone hearing impaired enjoy the experience since no way to block out noise around table. The food was only so so. The Coconut Chicken Salad had chicken overcooked so could not even cut it. None of us were impressed with the food - except for the tortilla chips and an ice cream/cake dessert. The noise factor really upset the baby. The server was great! The manager worked with us regarding the quality of food. Not sure would try a second time - the food could be found at any similar restaurants.
Used to be one of our favorite places to eat. Has seriously gone downhill the last few times we have visited. The place is disgustingly dirty. At the time we visited there were very few people but there was trash, food, and even a few cloth napkins all over the floors. Not sure if the pictures will do it justice but i have attached a few. The booth we where we sat had old food in the window which had drawn ants and other insects. All this was before we ever saw the waiter. It was 10-15 minutes before he came to the table and then couldn't even get drinks correct. Came back to the table 3 different times just to figure them out. We had to ask 4 separate times to get salt, several more times to get our Espinoca. When the Espinoca finally arrived, the waiter rolled his eyes and proceeded to toss it on the table with loud thud. We ordered three entrées, two of which were incorrect when brought to our table. One was fixed but the other we ended up chalking up as a loss and finally just removed from our ticket. All in all, a horrible experience a subpar and rude waiter. Glad there is a Jose Peppers on the West side because we will not be back to this location.
I usually have a good experience here, their Fajitas are the best. Homemade tortillas and the grilled jalapeño are the best.
Four coworkers and I were in Wichita on business. We decided to try Jose Peppers...that was a bad decision! Food was just average, but service was so bad it was pathetic. Our waiter was glassy eyed. One of my coworkers suspected the guy was on something, but I don't know. We told him separate checks before we ordered, so he literally did separate checks for each item each person ordered. Order a drink, and you got a check for that. Order another drink, and you got another check. The meal was on it's own check. I, plus one of my coworkers, asked him 5 times over the course of 30 minutes to bring me a tea refill. 5 times! He finally remembered and brought me one. Another coworker asked him at least 3 times when he would get his margarita. I understand staffing issues post-pandemic, but this was way beyond that in terms of incompetence. When we handed him our credit cards he was gone for at least 10 minutes and it was screwed up.when he brought it back. I finally saw and flagged down a manager, and she did apologize repeatedly. She said he was "normally a decent waiter." All I could think was "decent--is that all he is on a good day?"Food was just average. Cilantro rice was OK, refried beans were Taco Bell quality, and the little corn cake thing was too salty. Carnitas Burrito was two levels below what an outstanding Burrito at an authentic Mexican restaurant should taste like.By the way, the restaurant wasn't that busy, and there appeared to be at least 3 other waiters working. Table next to us wasn't happy either with the service he provided them.We were there for about 1 1/4 hours, and most of that time was spent waiting for drinks, waiting for food, waiting for checks, waiting for credit card receipts. By the time we left I just wanted to beat my head against a wall--that's how bad it was!The decor in the restaurant looked good--no complaints, and the restaurant appeared pretty clean. Not sure when we will be back in Wichita. But we certainly won't make the mistake of eating at Jose Peppers again!
Good food and great service, always a nice time.
Thank you Kaleb!!! He was amazing stayed on top of drinks, didn't over talk, and was very nice. Mixed drinks where amazing and the food was good. Didn't have to order off of a QR code. Place was clean, colorful, and a very inviting. We would definitely try this again.
Absolutely amazing food, and service. We've been there before. Everytime we got to wichita, we go
Stopped in a month ago with my wife before Christmas. The food is always good and the service was even better than usual. Ask for Miles if you want a very friendly, high energy, positive expierience. He was a fantastic server, and a joy to talk to. The bartended did a great job with their margaritas too. Not nearly as expensive as the food could be for the quality and taste.
Cute restaurant, Fun vibes, Great happy hour deals. The skinny margaritas were good, as were the crab and shrimp enchiladas and the trio fajitas. I particularly loved that they spaced seating so that we were not all shoved together. It made the experience seem private. We could easily hear each other as well as watch the several TV screens throughout the room. We will be back during happy hour!
Jose Pepper was one of my favorite restaurants when I lived in the city, so it was only right that I stop by when I was in town for a quick visit. The Corona Shrimp Tacos and Margaritas are still just as good as I remember. I can't wait until my next visit!
