Locally owned, very tasty. A good selection of traditional burgers, chicken,tenderloins, and sides. They have a nice salad bar, too. We had tenderloin rocket meals, delicious and fair priced.
Did not expect to see a salad bar set up in this place. Great selection of items on the salad bar. The only concern was the cherry tomatoes seemed to be a little over ripe. Pork tenderloin was huge and the onion rings are great. Some staff could use several lessons on how to be friendly and not so snobbish.
A true slice of Americana eating and a page from Topeka's history. This restaurant is no frills but offers a salad bar as well as an excellent pork tenderloin fried sandwich, and killer onion rings. This is definitely a spot that the locals cherish and you won't find anywhere else.
I ordered a pork tenderloin with lettuce and mayo and this is what my lettuce looked like when I opened up my sandwich. Clearly it's brown and disgusting... why would you serve something that you yourself probably wouldn't eat.
I've eaten at The Pad many times. Burgers are ok, but need to be seasoned. Disappointed that the onion rings are made ahead of time and just sit under a heat lamp waiting to be ordered. My favorite thing about the Pad is the salad bar and the giant hamburgers. No skinny little patties here.
The staff is wonderful! We love the 1/4 lb cheeseburgers and the best onion rings we have ever tasted! This restaurant is a long standing Topeka treasure!
I had the chicken fried steak special. I was expecting something plain. But it was actually quite good. And at a really good price.
Probably one of my favorite places to eat. Their mashed potatoes are top notch, their chicken noodles is AMAZING, and the chicken fried steak/chicken is perfect, it's not dry at all. And their chocolate ice cream is so creamy.
I have passed Pad 100's of times in my life and today my daughter and I stopped because the Burger Stand was closed. All I can say is wowie zowie, from the second we stepped through the door I knew this was it. I thought Vista, I thought old school, I thought there just are not many places like this left. The kid got a burger, myself chicken fried steak... both dynamite. Service was awesome, atmosphere was utterly prepan, and I will be back to try everything on the menu, thanks Pad , we need you .
This place is nothing fancy. It is a good family run business. Better like burgers, fries, just fried foods in general. They also have a good salad bar most of the time but have been more disappointed in it of late. COVID has changed many aspects of this restaurant. It is worth trying.
