Great service. Wonderful food and awesome atmosphere. The server did so great being the only one on the floor. Never let us go wondering where he went. Will visit again on my next trip thru
My first time there I was disappointed I asked four times for the hot hot sauce didn't get it till 10 minutes later and another factor is the mid teenage girl that appears does not speak English it makes me wonder if she's got a green card and does she go to school overall the food was excellent came quick communications need to be fixed will I go back I don't know
They give a generous amount of food and it's great price. The food is super flavorful.
Hidden gem off of Topeka Blvd. Amazing food, big portions for a decent price. Place was busy but food came fast and hot. Service was great and friendly. Definitely recommend it.
Enjoyed a great meal here yesterday with my girlfriend. The place seemed really slow but the food came out super hot and fresh, everything was perfect and the service was top level. This is a top notch restaurant, even better than El Mez. Please support them if you can, I would really hate to lose such a nice restaurant.
I've been wanting to try it for years, no good reason why I didn't until today. Disappointed in myself for not trying it sooner.
Overall, the food wasn't bad, but it was a pretty big disappointment. Having grown up in Miami and lived several countries in Latin America, the Caribbean and a few cities in Mexico, before moving here, from San Antonio, TX, I've always loved and had access to some really amazing Mexican, Caribbean and Latin American food my whole life so maybe I'm just being too picky, here.El Gallo had been recommended to me several times for "really good authentic Mexican food". Sadly, it wasn't even close to authentic.I ordered the Enchiladas de Camaron, Tacos al Pastor and the El Gallo Nachos.The Enchiladas de Camaron were made with cheap soft flour tortillas containing four pathetically tiny shrimp seasoned only with a tiny bit of Cajun (not Mexican) seasoning and covered in some watery, sour cream & cheese sauce, flavorless yellow rice with this disgusting, wilted, warm, Iceburg lettuce all over it. It was so bland tasting, I ended up adding a bunch of my own seasonings and veggies.The Tacos al Pastor were not any better. I don't what they're bragging about, but there's absolutely nothing authentic about these things. The marinade used in the pork tasted like bottled Lawery's Marinade and the pork pieces were dry and rubbery. Also, they weren't tacos! All it was, was four cheap soft tacos all thrown together on the bottom and the pork bits dumped on top of them in a pile. That's just lazy! Tacos are individual hand held items not four soggy soft taco shells buried under a pile of rubbery, poorly seasoned pork bits.The El Gallo Nachos were ok, but you absolutely do not put fried green peppers and onions on crispy tortilla chips! Grilled (not fried, btw) green peppers and onions are the primary ingredients in FAJITAS, not nachos! They make the chips a soggy wet mess! Real Mexican nachos contain FRESH chopped peppers, tomatoes onions, etc topped with sour cream, fresh herbs and cheese.Finally, the salsa they give you for the chips was awful! It reminded me of the juice poured out of canned tomatoes with a tiny bit chili powder and a few bits of something green, that may or may not have been cilantro. And, just like the other items, it had no flavor or seasoning at all.I really wanted this meal to taste like real authentic Mexican food and instead it just felt like a cheap generic imitation.
I’m a picky eater and I absolutely love El Gallo. The food is always made to perfection and the service is AMAZING. The owner puts her heart into every dish and you can taste the quality.
Great authentic Mexican food! Anytime we have a hankering for some real Mexican food, that is where we go. If you like your chips and salsa a bit on the hot side, ask for a bowl of their hhhhhhottttt salsa, it will light you up. 5 ?'s! Staff are on it as soon as that door opens, getting menus and silver ware and asking what drink you will have. From there, nothing like it we have found in Topeka. Thank you El Gallo for great service and even greater food!
Great food great service. I didnt have any of their drinks but they were priced great too!
