Stopped in on our way to a dr.appointment at Advent. Have been told how fabulous they were in Lenexa. A fair amount of customers in the bright, colorful bar and table area where some good music was playing. Plenty of room even with social distancing.. We were walked past the bar and most of the restaurant and seated in a booth in the back. Dry, cold turkey and cheezy corn bake came in a bowl with a spoon as corn soup. Nice server but over $30 for 2 lunch specials we won't be back.
The worse brisket I’ve had from a bbq place. I got 16oz of fat. Had zero taste. The worse bbq in town. Thirty years ago great! Now terrible.
They still have some of the best burnt ends in town. I’m glad that they expanded their seating and maintained the quality of food.
Catered a retirement luncheon at our office. BBQ was delicious, service was great. Room full of people being so quiet because they were busy stuffing their faces. Will definitely use them again for such events and will stop in for lunch. Brisket and burnt ends were amazing! Thanks Haywards staff.
I've visited this place several of times and find myself coming back with my wife all the time, even after visiting other restaurants! It's just hard to explain, there is really no comparison as their food is so delicious! The fried pickles, the halophenol sausages, the smoked ribs are so tender with a great smoke flavor! Not to mention the people who serve you really care to see you enjoy and experience their restaurant! Hands down, this is one of my favorite restaurants to visit! I'm originally from Bellevue WA (Moving to Kansas City) and eat smoked ribs there often, but Haywards has become my favorite in Kansas City! Great beer, smoked foods, and family fun!
Had a craving for BBQ at work during the day and by the time I got off not much was open and decided to give Haywards a go. Took take out for my girlfriend and I and even by the time I got home it was so delicious, we both got the royal sandwich (brisket and burnt ends) and oh boy was it tasty. I was in and out with good service and was happily had a nice meal. I'll definitely be returning to dine in.

The last four times I have gone here or tried to order online they have been out of Turkey. It was great turkey, but they said it doesn't sell as well so they don't smoke much. I understand supply and demand, but now this happend to myself and others multiple times. There is a demand here people, pay attention! I won't go back to be burned again, too many other great bbq joints in KC!
