Overpriced bland food and the owner is a thief!
I drive all over as a trucker to include all the southwestern states you would expect great quality mexican food, sadly thats not always the case mostly sad phoning it in overpriced just passable cuisine so to find this gem in Kansas was a great surprise.I had shrimp fajitas and they were cooked to perfection with all the trimmings perfect as well. The service was attentive and friendly.
Our server was great. My Corona beer and my husband's margarita was perfect. And I would highly recommend Taco Bell for a meal. At least their sauce has flavor.
Food was fixed wrong on 2 different orders. Enchiladas were very greasy and burnt. The Carne sauce was like red grits?. Not a fan. Great chips and salsa tho!
We arrived here road weary on our trip back to Texas, five minutes before closing. They could have easily shooed us away, but we were welcomed in and given a table. The inside was clean and warm, there was snow on the roads in town. The waitress was very friendly making us feel welcome. I ordered a diet pepsi, and my wife and daughter drank water. The chips came out and were crispy and not greasy and soggy, a big plus in my book. Two salsas came to the table, a "spicy" salsa, and a non-spicy salsa. In mexican restaurants in Texas salsa burns off your lips, and thats the not spicy salsa. Both of the salsas that came to the table were very mild, but delicious nonetheless.I ordered a smothered sancho, my wife ordered a plate with a cheese enchilada and a taco, and my daughter ordered a chicken quesadilla. The food came out quickly and was hot. The smothered sancho was pretty good. The white queso was delicious, the ground beef inside was okay and could have used more seasoning. My daughter enjoyed the quesadilla, and called it a meatadilla as it was 90 percent meat and 10 percent cheese. My wife enjoyed her enchilada plate. We all ordered rice and beans for the sides. The beans had a good texture, a fine mixture of ground beans and whole beans. The rice was good and not dry.Throughout the whole meal, the waittess was friendly and attentive making sure we received everything we needed. The ultimate test for the cleanliness of any restaurant is how clean they keep the restrooms. These restrooms were very clean with no lingering odor, they were well kept.Overall this is a good place to eat. We travel through Kansas a couple times a year and will put La Casita on our list of places to stop. Granted it isn't the spicy Tex-Mex we have here in Texas, but it is good and clean, with friendly, hospitable staff.
Okay my son was craving Mexican so we went with the one with the best reviews. Well the service was good and that is where the positive part of my review ends.As this is the 2nd highly rated Mexican restaurant I've been to in Salina that was really terrible (jaliscos is the other) I'm convinced that no one who eats at these places actually enjoys Mexican food.I'm sure there weren't any seasonings and I've never seen a smaller 15 dollar chimichanga....a giant tortilla with not much meat or veggies and a TON of cheese. I've never seen orange cheese or really any cheese INSIDE of a chimichanga in my life. Even my 2yr old granddaughter didn't really eat anything but the chips and salsa. Her chicken on her bowl was seriously the stuff you buy frozen to add to salads or something. My son's cannot get over how disappointing that food was! My 18yr is son has a stomach ache.I sincerely hope it was an off night but as everyone else seemed happy...I think that's just how it is sadly.
I took my girlfriend out for her birthday dinner and she was so happy!! I'm not much for Mexican food but it was good and very busy. Our food came quickly considering the place was packed since so many people were without power and we're eating out. The waitress said it hasn't been busy like that in a long time. I hope since people have gotten to go there again they will go back, it's a great place, great food and great people!!
Food was excellent! Service was super personable, albeit a little slow because they were packed. Actually a good sign on a random Thursday night. First time eating there so they gave us free queso dip. AND they had Negra Modello ON TAP!!! How awesome is that! All in all a great experience. In town on business, we will be going back.
We were craving some Mexican food and the place we had chosen was closed for dining so we looked up this place and gave it a shot. Sooooooooo glad we did!!!We were greeted promptly, seated promptly, and able to order promptly. We told the hostess this was our 1st time and she graciously welcomed us and informed us that we were able to get a free queso! (YESSSS) That was important to me because she didn't necessarily have to tell us that because we didn't know any different.I don't know what that queso had in it, but I want some RIGHT NOW as I type lol ANNNND the CHIPS...I think they are now the best chips that I personally have had. The beans that came with the Chimichanga meal was GREAT and flavorful, the rice was a tad dry and a little under seasoned, and the chimichanga was DELISH with alllll of the cheese and you could really taste the pecan in the meat. The grand finale was the fried ice cream y'all. Anyone that desires a good dessert especially if they have never had fried ice cream, don't even go if you don't try it. Seriously....WHOAAAAA lol. I'm in love and if I am EVER in this area again I most CERTAINLY will be returning.
Food and service is always excellent. Glad to see Betty is back. I've been eating here for over 20 years and it's always good. The restaurant moved locations since I was first introduced many years ago and is better than ever
