I've been looking for an authentic Mediterranean restaurant in the Greater Kansas City area for years and I've finally found Yafa's. Yafa's cuisine is full of incredible flavor and its menu has many options...all, of which, are AMAZING. Batool, the restaurant owner, is so very warm and welcoming as are the hostesses. My mouth begins to water the minute I walk in the door from all the wonderful aromas...let alone, just thinking about the food. It's in a great location in Overland Park and I am so glad this restaurant is in my "own backyard" since I never need to drive very far to get a taste.
My husband and I went to our anniversary lunch. The food is delicious, the service is very good. There were 3 ladies that made sure everything is good.
A notice on the front door warned about slow service, like so many other places recently. It did take a while to get our food, but once it arrived, it was definitely worth the wait. We had a sampler platter and a fish platter. Both were excellent. We had a lentil soup to start that had a nice hearty texture and subtle flavor. The sampler included a VERY generous portion of gyro meat with all the fixings, tsatsiki, pickle, onion and pita pieces. The baba ganoush was rich and smokey. Hummus had a dollop of delicious fiery red sauce on the side. The other plate had a tasty spice mix on the grilled vegetable. The only issue of the whole meal was that the fish was overcooked. The prices were incredibly low for what we got (but don't tell the owners) We look forward to returning there, hopefully when they finally have adequate staff. That would add the 5th star.
Dining room is open! We were the only patrons eating inside on a Saturday night at 6pm. They had several take outs. We had never been here. So when we drove up and didn’t see any other cars, we were skeptical. So glad we went in. The decor is simple. The waitress was nice. We ordered the tabouli and it was delicious. My entree was the chicken shawarma. The meat was cooked nice, but the highlight was the salad topping. It had these pickles I have never tasted before. They were great. The special sauce was light. The rice was perfect. It was so much food for $11.99. We ordered the pistachio baklava. It was good but not homemade. Too bad. We would definitely recommend this place.
We were very happy with the food and service We ordered the hummus, chicken biryani, and the gyro plate. All the dishes were fabulous.
For wonderful Mediterranean food, go to YaFa’s. My husband and I started with humus which was superb, the a Greek salad that was fresh and beautiful. We both loved our sandwiches, a gyros and a lamb shawarma. We will definitely return because every bite was great!
We eat here every couple of weeks! We have tried everything in the menu—it’s all delicious! The restaurant is family owned and everything is made from scratch and beautifully plated. Friendly, excellent service too!
Yafa Cafe always serves delicious food with amazing service. I highly recommend it.
