Great food options - either from the kitchen or especially from the hibachi grill. There is a wide variety of options everyone will find appealing. I recommend the vegetable stir fry.If you are ordering from there hibachi, I recommend the steaks and shrimp. The chef provides an AMAZING show and involves everyone. His personality and culinary skills can only be described as TOP NOTCH.I STRONGLY recommend reservations as the restaurant can get very busy and crowded very quickly.Do yourself a favor and schedule your next dining experience here.
This place was BUSY when we showed up around 5pm on a Friday evening. The atmosphere was bustling but friendly. We were greeted right away, though had to wait about 10 minutes to place our takeout order. Once we did we were able to walk around the neighboring shops and they called me when our order was ready. We only got sushi, but we got about 6 different rolls and every one of them was delicious. I would definitely eat here again, and would love to see what the dine-in experience is like.
We once again had an amazing dinner tonight at Kyoto!! Simply the best sushi and hibachi in the KC metro. We’ve had Chef Norris and Chef Joe the last few times we’ve been, they’re so talented and entertaining!! Gilbert is a terrific server, we always enjoy his attention to detail (tip your servers and chefs they work very hard to create a fun experience for you and your loved ones) (we always tip the chef 10$ for what they do on top of the 25% for the wait staff). Remember most servers make $2.75 an hour…. crazy I know but it’s true.Anyways back to the post….The whole entire crew at this dining establishment are wonderful. Please enjoy the organized chaos and excitement, try and have a fun time! You deserve to!!
Let me start with I have been a regular customer at this location... for quite a while. But TODAY I had an insane experience.1. After receiving my chicken fried rice (I also asked for extra soy sauce) I opened the container to 5 pieces of shriveled up chicken... on a heap of rice. Also there was no soy sauce in the bag at all..Despite it also being written in on the receipt.2. I called Kyoto (at 4:15) and was told they didn’t have a manager who could assist me until 4:45-5. So basically I was going to have to wait 30 plus minutes to be assisted.3. Instead I brought my food and receipt to the restaurant. I am not sure if the lady at the counter was the manager or not, but she SNATCHED the food... then started arguing with me that in fact there was chicken.. after digging in the rice with chop sticks...she only found one small bit of chicken.. then implied that I ate all the chicken out the rice and just left the rice... my plate was practically still full!!4. I am not sure if you treat all your guests this way or what the deal is... but to be told numerous times that “I am rude “ for requesting a refund due to me not being satisfied with my order... is not OKAY. To imply that “I am one of the people who “ what do you mean one of those people? Discrimination....? Will not be getting another dime.
Very nice place. I'm not much for that type of food, but my granddaughter is, so for her birthday meal she chose this place. Everyone else raved about their sushi rolls, etc. I had the tenderloin and lobster. Came with great grilled vegetables, fried rice, and salad. Prepared differently, all cut in small pieces and grilled with some sort of sauce. The lobster was put back into the shell and served with a couple sauces for dipping. The food was great. They have a full bar and hot saki with hot and cold tea flavors. The wait staff was outstanding and checked on us several times. Give them a try!
Excellent sashimi! I was convinced there was no such thing as good sushi in the Kansas City area. This place proved me wrong. Will definitely go back there!
We love Kyoto for our special family dinners. Not is it only fun, but the food and service are always outstanding. Thank you for making our birthday celebration are great time.
It was a cold day and we were going to Panera, but it smelled so good we decided on Kyoto instead. The food was really good (scallops and shrimp). The server and the chef at the grill were attentive and fun. I liked the dipping sauces too. I would only suggest that you serve a good coffee. We are a coffee society. I drink coffee with my meal and love it with dessert. I will go to Kyoto again.
We come here about every 3 months and the main reasons are the food and service. The food is always really good and the portions are a good size for the price. The service has always been top notch and the staff work hard. We had 13 in our party, we have been coming on December 26th for our daughter birthday for 19 years. Service was good, maybe a bit less than normal. My wife ordered white rice and the cook gave her fried rice. She let him know she asked for white and he said "no, you ordered white rice". He didn't take her order to begin with and did give what she again asked for. The only other negative was the fact that they now add 20% tip on your bill. We had already tipped the cook in cash and now we have another $50 some dollars added on. That would have been nice to know before we tipped. Still only of the best in Kansas City.
Waited an hour for our food before we decided to leave. When I was asking how much longer of a wait it would be, before I could finish my sentence, the waitress snapped at me and said, "look at how many tickets we have!"I didn't think it was unreasonable to ask because everyone around were getting their plates. I just wanted to know in the nicest way possible.Unfortunately we won't be coming back after that.
