We had a terrible experience on 5/29/22. I'd made a reservation for our first anniversary and stressed our need for a table in a low traffic area. After waiting patiently (~25 minutes with reservations) to be seated, they sat us at the worst possible table; closest to the front door and across from the bar. Needless to say, we could barely hear one another talk.As we were seated I kindly reiterated that we had reservations and would prefer waiting for a better table. The hostess offered us the booth closest to ours (I'm not kidding), obviously with the same issues as described above. I asked again for a lower traffic table and was denied. On a side note, during our wait we saw multiple walk-in groups seated at better tables. With the above in mind we walked out, but did explain our situation to the front of house. They were sympathetic and offered to make it right, but at that point they'd already lost our business.

An hour wait on Sunday, 2 wks ago, so book ahead. Love the salmon dip, wife like her filet minon, i didnt like my, it was too sweet for me, i should have stuck with my normal steak, I ordered the Maui one, our server was very attentive, we celebrated my wife birthday so we also shared the big piece of famous carrot cake, it was very moist, very good.

I wish I loved this meal, but honestly I could have had better in Boston and that's not saying much. The baked potato was delicious and very flavorful, but the strip steak with blue cheese crust was all panko breadcrumbs and very little blue cheese. The steak was also a bit tough for the $39 price tab.Service was also very slow. 40 minute wait for a table that never came so I sat at the bar instead and then waited another 10 minutes to have my drink request taken. The glass of red wine I chose was out of stock, so I had to choose something different and waited another 10 minutes for someone to ask if I wanted a drink. Surprisingly, the meal came out quickly, in about 15 minutes, but having to wait nearly 1.5 hours for an okay steak and a delicious baked potato was disappointing. The restaurant was busy, but the two bartenders (and one additional bartender / waitress that kept floating in and out of the bar) with a devoted barback should be able to handle a dinner crowd.

The service was excellent our server was Ashley B., Y’all need to go see her!! And the food is far the best I’ve ever tasted, worth the 3 hour drive ? can’t wait to come back

Environment was nice little dark, but sat by the window. Food was amazing! Will be back! Waiter was knowledgeable and friendly.

Ate here for lunch today with a colleague 3/4/22 and had a show and good food! Hostess were beautiful and nice. Food was great had the prime rib and smashed potatoes and deviled eggs for appetizers. Our server was Ashley she was very attentive to us despite being in the bar!Downside very rude people came in and cussed out servers and hosts.

Ohhh boy!! I haven't been here in awhile but I decided to go and celebrate my birthday last nite. What a excellent decision!! J. Alexander's is always on point and last nite was no exception. I had their delicious lemonade which is always a must. I had the Steak Maui, a house salad, loaded mashed potatoes and the Mac and cheese. Sooooo damn fire....every single bite...then I had a lemon drop martini...yumm..another must have... the sweet manager came by and wished me a happy birthday along with a delicious slice of ice cream cake...yummmmtastic... Best nite of fine dining I've had in a long time.

First time dining here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, ensuring we had everything in a timely manner. The food was delicious and well prepared. Planning on dining here again.

My wife and I ate here for our annual New Year's Eve dinner. It wasn't the first time we've eaten aJ. Alexander's either. Just like every other time, they brought their A-game. The salad are all mixed and tossed, steaks were cooked perfectly, their Mac & Cheese is heavenly and the side of broccoli was perfectly cooked through but still had a little crunch to the stalk. My hat's off to the kitchen staff!Every time we have visited, the wait staff is friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. They always seem to know exactly when to stop at the table for a drink refresher or the next course of the meal without making you wait to long or hovering. Also, unlike most other restaurants we have visited on NYE they didn’t give us a set amount of time before running is out. Instead, they let us sit at our table and enjoy our date night together.Oh, I highly recommend the deviled eggs with camels bacon if it's on the menu when you go too.

We came from Wichita to the KC area and Stopped in after shopping at the plaza and in overland park. I check reviews for steak houses and discovered they had Steak Maui on the menu. I had been searching for something comparable to the Hawaiian Ribeye that Houstons in the plaza had. I found my new go to steakhouse when in the KC.MY Steak Maui was perfectly cooked to the medium I ordered. I subbed the smashed potatoes for a loaded baked potato. My wife ordered one of their special steaks with blue cheese. My daughters got a pork tenderloin and a veggie burger. All were good. We will definitely be back.
