We were at the nursery across the street and could smell that great BBQ smoke, looked for where it was coming from, and saw it was Brobecks! I had heard great things about their ham salad in the Kansas City Eats group on Facebook, so we decided to give it a try.We were greeted almost as soon as we entered. We were under the impression that it was an order-at-the-counter kind of place, but were happy to be told to find a table we liked and have a seat. Service was friendly, especially from the lady who brought the food to the table. We weren’t that hungry and didn’t want leftovers because we had more errands to run, so the two of us ordered the ham salad appetizer, of course, and shared the BBQ dinner that came with 3 meats and 2 sides. We got brisket because that’s our benchmark for any barbecue joint, and also the spicy jalapeño cheese sausage and pulled pork. Our sides were green beans, because I wanted a lower carb option, and fries. The ham salad didn’t disappoint, but what really made the appetizer great was the house-made chips, with the best spice on them. All of the meats on the dinner platter were excellent, but we liked the sausage the best. The brisket was moist, and so was the pork without being greasy. And the steak fries were really excellent too. No grease there! The worst thing on the plate was the green beans. They had a funky flavor, almost like spicy poultry seasoning, that we didn’t really care for, but that’s ok.Two kinds of sauce on the table, one mustard-based, the other regular KC-style sauce. Neither were to our taste, but it didn’t matter because the meat didn’t need anything else to make its flavor shine.Next time we’re in the neighborhood we’ll stop in again and try some other dishes, but we’ll definitely have more of that sausage if it’s available, fries, and we’ll try the coleslaw.Definitely recommend.
This has quickly become my new favorite BBQ restaurant! Absolutely amazing food and very friendly service.
Ham Salad is awesome. Same for the Smokey Joe chopped meat. Tremendous baked beans and potato salad, too.But need to add an entree...Smokey Joe smothered in the Mac and Cheese. OMG!
One of the best barbecue places I've ever been urban every time I go there it is so amazing it tastes amazing it fills you up the crowd of people that are in there always every single time I go in there are delightful to be around it's a joy and I look forward every Friday to go in here this is the most best barbecue I've had ever I'm ever amazing
Service was great, food was very excellent and that ham salad ain't no hype...best I've ever tasted! Place was clean and definitely will be returning to eat there again. Only complaint would be that no bread was served with dinners, I thought that was a little unusual.
1st visit, service and people nice. Beef not warm, marbled with fat, dry like sliced day before, cold bun right out of package, asked for french fries served steak fries (they were good) sampled beans (no meat, just flavored beans, not good), bread and butter pickles poor choice for kc BBQ. Overall not a destination BBQ.
A somewhat lesser known BBQ place in a city filled with good BBQ, but Brobecks is one of my family's favorite spots! Their meats are always tender and delicious, and their side dishes are phenomenal. You have to try the ham salad and the cheesy corn, and then I love their pulled pork and brisket. My fam wojld suggest getting a side of their ribs as well. The portion sizes are big so don't worry about going hungry. Not a massive restaurant but we can usually get a table when we go. Everything is on the ground floor so it's pretty accessible!
Half rack was very good. Fast and kind service. I will go again.
Great BBQ! Great menu! You can't find better service.
So yum!!! The pulled pork, brisket, ham, and turkey are amazing. The cheesy corn was delicious too! The service was outstanding!!! I can’t think of anything negative to say.
