I have been going to this restaurant for many years, making many new friend during this time, recently a situtation occured at this restaurant that really concerned me, I always tease with and get teased as well with the staff there and Its always been a lot of fun, I know of this one waitress that has worked there for a long time, when I come In a lot of times we will share a hug out of gratitude and friendship, we have known one another for years and supported her when she opened a restaurant in Ottawa, ks. anyway I came in one day recently and the hostess the daughter of this waitress I know quite well was laughing and made a comment saying you always hug my mom but never me, so I In a playful way gave her a hug and left thinking nothing more of this incounter, well a few days ago the wife of the owner sit down and said I need to speak with you about something, and went on to say I need to not be touching any employees In there establishment, I told her at this time about the earlier situtation and It was all In fun, apparently that hostess took it upon herself to only tell her part of the story here, so I want to say I would never want to hurt or embarrass anyone or do anything Inappropriate in any way to anyone at any time, this really hurt me and after so many years of support for this restaurant I have nothing negative to say about anyone here , thats not how I handle unpleasant situtations but I probably wont be going back and that saddens me !
humiliate their customers because hostess doesn't speak to customers to do her job. then every other employee but one takes up the humiliating of their customers in a packed diner on mothers day because I upset their hostess. will never go again...telling everyone I know not to and making sure my review is read everywhere
The food was delicious, hot and plentiful. The atmosphere was family friendly.

I LOVE Old 56. I have wonderful memories of bringing my mother in her wheelchair regularly for the wonderful, flavorful and temder liver and onionsWhen they saw us coming, the staff came to help us up the sidewalk, in the doors and ito a booth.. Mom appreciated it and aye ebery bite of her meal amd drank full cups of great coffee. Mom died the end of 2021I brought a friend for Sunday brunch and he loved it. I loved the updated decor, the malted waffle with eggs and great coffee, the terrific service and tje wonderful memories. I'm coming back soon for liver and onions!
It's your typical diner. Not in a bad way. It is a no frills, inexpensive place to eat. The portions won't make you fat by any means, but if you want a diner meal that won't break the bank, then by all means head on over there.
Great server, the food was good and fast. Good size place for been a mama's papa's breakfast place. I ordered steak and fruits. The steak was delicious and had good flavor, my fruits were fresh. Plenty parking space.

We ordered the fiesta omelette with hash browns. Our waitress provided phenomenal customer service while creating a friendly place to eat. The food was cooked to absolute perfection! It's so hard to find a place with good coffee that has flavor. I must say hands down we Definitely will go again.
