Words can't even describe how incredible this place is. I had one of the best meals of my entire life- burnt ends with pineapple baked beans and collard greens. Every employee was welcoming and friendly and when I heard they'll have live blues and jazz in six weeks... I knew this was everything you love about Kansas City wrapped up into a single package. So grateful I stumbled in.
This place is amazing. Seafood, crab boil, shrimp boil, BBQ, Cajun and more! The menu is extensive! Portions are large, food is fresh, hot and delicious! Servers were all very helpful and attentive. They don’t have alcohol this month, but you can bring in your own beer for now! Liquor license is in process, so they’ll have alcohol in the next 6 weeks (hopefully!). Their food truck is parked out front and the smoker is in the parking lot. There is outdoor seating and starting in the end of April 2022, there will be live music, dancing, wine and beer and more seating, as they are working on opening the space next door (the space previously occupied by Freddy-T’s). This is KC bbq at its best. We will definitely be back! There was a nice extra touch when the owner came out to check on every table! If you appreciate quality food and hometown atmosphere, Jonathan’s Wood Fire BBQ is a must! You won’t be disappointed!
We have been passing this little hidden gem for months since moving to the neighborhood. This night we stopped on an impulse changing from the Mexican restaurant we had agreed on. Lucky for us we did. It was just before closing time but Jonathan welcomed us in. We loved everything and there's so much to come back for. After being catch up on the exciting events the owner has planned but also filled up on some Awesome seafood.
We have eaten there several times in the last couple days. It is so amazing! You can mix the BBQ and seafood to make platters, everything is fresh. You do have to wait because it's fresh so either order online or relax in house. Everything has great flavor!
I've been meaning to try this place out for a long time, finally got around to it today and OMG. I am extremely sorry it took me so long. The smell...........the music............the atmosphere had me hooked before I got to the counter to order. Then then menu gave me pause because everything sounded and looked so good. The staff were the friendliest folks I've found at any restaurant recently. I ended up going with the BBQ chicken and fried sweet corn for my side. The chicken was fall off the bone tender and moist, plus it was perfectly seasoned. I ate almost the entire half chicken without any BBQ sauce it was so good. I did use some BBQ sauce eventually just to try it out and it had exceptional flavor as well. Did I mention how friendly the staff was? Luckily I live in Olathe as this place just became one of my favorites.
Everyone in there has good customer service. No one was rude no one was rushing you to order. He explained what was on his menu. He made me feel at home.. the food I give it a 10/10
Amazing food. Cozy environment. Not just serving Cajun food but also serving a culture and ambience of southern style cooking. I can’t believe i hadn’t tried this before. The fried corn on the cob is divine. Listed below
FANTASTIC PLACE! This was my husband and I’s first time in and it did not disappoint. The staff was absolutely wonderful and made sure we were taken care of. I got the crab boil and my husband got the brisket sandwich and fried chicken tenders, ALL was delicious. Highly recommend! I cant wait to come back and try more items!
This place is a hidden gem in Olathe, KS. I’ve been in Olathe for a couple years now and can’t believe I hadn’t heard of this place until now. The vibe is chill on the inside with good music, friendly staff, and pleasant atmosphere. The food is absolutely fantastic and I can’t wait to try everything on the menu! I had the brisket sandwich with fries. The fries had a unique wood fire taste. The brisket sandwich had a healthy portion of brisket and was seasoned to perfection with the right amount of tenderness. I also got a side of deep fried chicken tenders since I hadn’t eaten all day and thought they were some of the best I’ve ever had! Great crunch and flavor. My wife had the crab boil with andouille sausage, potatoes, and corn. She enjoyed her food as much as she enjoyed mine. Not many seafood places around that do it this well (if any!). We will be back with friends and family!
My husband and I had been wanting to try Jonathan’s for quite some time, we finally went and it did not disappoint! First, the staff are so friendly! The gal at the counter was very sweet and helped us navigate the menu. We got the burnt ends dinner with smoked mac n cheese and potato salad as well as the shrimp boil and we shared. Both meals were great and we can’t wait to come back and try other menu items!
