Been here a few times. It is all delicious and their service is great. I am a fan of their tortas. I tried a burrito today, still good but I am spoiled by California style burritos and in comparison these are fairly plain. Not bad by any means. Just not what I really am looking for from a burrito. I will be sticking to the torta or tacos for now.
We drove 2 hours just to eat the food here and we’re beyond amazed with the food!! It’s definitely worthy the drive! The tacos are the best tacos we’ve ever eaten all over the country! Definitely recommend this place over any other Mexican food in KC!

Carmen’s is the best!! My family and I have absolutely loved eating here for the last 9 years! Have never had something here I didn’t like and I’ve had most items on the menu…working on trying them all. Tamales, Chile releno burrito, churros and gorditas are my favorites! And the chips and salsa!!!!
Was my 1st time inside. The options are great, breakfast burritos & lunch are amazing. Can eat same place all week and something different everytime. Nice, helpful & friendly staff. Will definitely be a regular customer.
Popped in on a Tuesday, had the tamales special and taco special. Food was great, staff was very helpful and friendly. Only open at night on a Tuesday night. Check the hours before you go. Homemade foods.
Love the Pastor tacos! In town for work and chose restaurant for lunch. Whole staff was attentive and super outgoing and friendly. If we lived here we would definitely be regulars and friends with the entire work family.
Stopped in for lunch and we were not disappointed. We each had the taco platter, chips, salsa and queso. We were already picking out our next meal while eating! Highly recommend this place.
My husband and I stopped in @ 4 pm. The place was busy but not packed. It might have been because of the storm that has due to hit the area in an hour. I accidently ordered the wrong dish. My husband gave me his. They brought the new dish out quickly. We were very impressed with the food, the cost, and the staff. We will be back. The wrong dish I ordered, we payed for it and took it home. I had it for lunch cold and it was great even cold. We have a new favorite Mexican restaurant.
If you're looking for great street-food style Mexican, you've got to try Carmen's. I've had the tacos (order at least 3), tortas (order 2), and gordita (1 will do it), and it's all good. Oh, and the breakfast burritos are excellent too. The flavors are simple and bold. The service is friendly, and you can tell the crew really care about the food, the customers, and the community they're part of. If "5 star restaurant" means fancy cuisine in an expensive setting, this isn't that kind of 5-star review. If you're looking for simple, tasty food with soul and no apologies for being served on a paper tray, Carmen's has you covered. I'll be back.
