I’ve been going back and forth for a few weeks on whether or not I should leave a review. The owner of this place is always so friendly and attentive. The baristas are more touch and go. The coffees not bad, but you never know if you’re gonna get a friendly a barista or a barista who just wants to get done with you as soon as possible so they can talk with their friend or get on their cellphone. There were baristas from last summer who were always so friendly and chatty (in the best way). Been telling my boyfriend that I want to find a new coffee spot but this is the closest one to our place so…
The coffee is very good and they will make your drink however you like it. All the alternative milks. Also, non-caff coffee and other drinks, smoothies, and tea. Plenty of seating plus a few outdoor tables. Baked goods and granola bars. They're surrounded by restaurants and a Dillons if you want savory stuff or a meal.
My husband and I absolutely Love J & S coffee!!! The coffee is awesome, super huge selection and choices for everyone! Such a home feel, down to earth atmosphere and staff takes time to get to know your favorite drink :-) I highly recommend this place!!!
i've never left a review on google before, but the welcoming atmosphere of this place made me do it! they asked very nicely if I would move tables so they could access something, and gave me a latte AND a biscotti for my trouble! everyone seems very nice, and they have a great selection of flavored drinks. a great place to work or hang out!
Stopped by on our way back from a KU game. Walked in and realized they were closed. Not only did the nice gentleman hook me up with a delicious latte but he also threw in some free scones for the kids. Great place and we will be back!

Delicious muffin and great coffee! Friendly staff too! As a small coffee shop owner, I like to try different coffee shops when I’m out and about on my day off. This is the second shop I’ve stopped at in Lawrence. The first shop was awful but this one was great! I will be back!
This is truly a hidden gem among coffee shops in Lawrence. Everything I’ve had (mostly espresso drinks) has been excellent. I highly recommend the Valencia ? They have really tasty coffee, low prices, friendly employees, and best of all: they’re freedom-minded and don’t nag about masks; it’s your choice ??
