Overall the brisket was good and the sides accompanied it well. It’s worth the trip into Kansas from Missouri, and expect a slight wait during busy times. The Texas toast and mac and cheese were the best parts. Brisket needed the sauce, and could have been a bit more flavorful to hold its own. Would recommend to experience KC BBQ but it has some work to do to get to that next level for brisket.
First time trying Kansas style barbecue. Joe’s is a class joint with great atmosphere and food. Despite the long lines, the service was exceptionally quick. I think this order was ready within 30 seconds. The ribs were tender and full of flavor. The beef brisket was okay. I liked the seasonal vegetable side dish of corn, cheese, and jalapeños.
Checked out Joe's barbeque on recommendation of hotel clerk who said it was a local Kansas City staple. It certainly does provide large portions of meat. Unfortunately I found the entire meal rather one flavor and uninteresting. Same sauce on ribs as beef brisket and baked beans slathered in it. If you love the sauce it may be for you but I prefer a little green and healthy options as well. Plus my brisket was not hot. Disappointing until I shared the cherry cobbler with my husband. That was good! Left feeling rather ill.
One of the best burnt ends I’ve ever had! The fries were really good too. We asked for them to be extra crispy and they were perfect! Huge bag too, definitely could be shared. Baked beans had a really nice flavor too. The line was long but they’re very fast. You also get to enjoy Tank 7 or other beers when you get inside the restaurant so that definitely makes the waiting in line not be a problem at all. Definitely worth going! We’ll for sure go back when we’re in Kansas City again.
Had carry out with son and daughter in law was fantastic. Four different entrees 4 different sides every one very pleased. Definitely recommend
We loved this restaurant, the food was great, but very busy (which I guess is a good thing), and parking was a bit challenging but manageable. We met family there we haven't seen for a long time and the staff let us close down the restaurant (sorry folks). Everything we ate was top notch, highly recommended.
Ribs are amazing! The ribs were just amazing, from the first bite to the last. Some of the best I’ve ever had. The burnt ends were just good, but not great. Beans were good as was the spicy slaw. When you see the long line, don’t fret, it goes quick and there is a separate station to order beer and souvenirs. Don’t worry about the table situation as it clears out just fast enough so that by the time you order there are tables open.
