It is a Wednesday evening, no specials, and it is packed. There are the regulars and maybe some like me who is reliving a time when I would come here as a kid as part of going to the State Fair. The service is good, but what can you expect with a packed place. I sat at the counter and watched them do their magic. It is there to see. Whether you "Moon it" or just get a breakfast at any time they are open, Or treat yourself to a steak, you probably can't go wrongI would come back here any time to enjoy it.
The food is delicious and I'm a regular there, but after this last time I don't know if I'm going back. I've found hair in my food multiple times, and this time when I finally brought the issue up to the staff. she kinda shrugged it off but told me I'd be getting a discount. When I went to go pay for my 22 dollar meal they applied a 1 or 2 dollar discount. Great food but service could use some work.
What a great place, my favorite restaurant in Kansas. Warm, friendly staff and great food and atmosphere. Our waitress was just awesome and so was everyone else. Coffee was hot and fresh, plenty of it. If I lived in Hutch, I would eat three meals a day here. We will be back, thank you!

The longest fries known to man, possibly a reminisce of nuclear fallout.. the food was ehh, I've had better at the local soup kitchen.. however they were very kind to mail my lost cellphone that i left on the table, so for this I salute your long fries and tasteless omelet..
We saw how packed this place was and it had pretty good reviews so we stopped in. I asked what the were known for and my waitress told me that everything was good. She said folks liked the biscuits and gravey so tried that. I was expecting some great house made grub, but this was clearly mass produced biscuits smothered in mass produced grav. it was the worst biscuits and gravey I think I have ever had. ? the eggs and bacon were good, and I did enjoy the small dinner vibe. I was just expecting more home made food rather thane just heated up frozen food.
we waited over 15 minutes before anyone even took our order. another 35 plus minutes and all didn't have our food. zero communication from anyone. worst service I've had at skaets.
I will gladly change to 5 stars when the wasting of packaging stops. 3 hot dogs do not need to be in all separate containers. Otherwise classic hometown diner.
Nothing like Skaets friendly atmosphere and awesome breakfast. We are regulars on Saturday morning!!
