We are working in Iowa this month and was surprised to see a Wahlburgers Restaurant around the corner from our hotel. The only reason we decided to go is because of their cute TV show we’ve watched a few times. Thought there would be a 12:30 lunch rush but very few people were there, that should have been my first red flag. Atmosphere was beyond nothing much of anything. One server working for the 3 occupied tables. The menu was pretty limited but it is a burger joint. We ordered 2 Jenn’s chicken sandwiches and opted out on fries for a healthier side. I got the the Brussel sprouts and kale slaw which had no kale or Brussel sprouts, it looked and tasted like regular cabbage slaw. My husband got a side garden salad instead of fries that cost extra and his salad consisted of a small bowl of iceberg lettuce, a few shavings of carrots and two slices of cucumber. The chicken was smaller than the hamburger buns but tasted good as I peeled off most of the bread which had most of the flavor from the sauce on it unfortunately. If The Wahlburgers are franchising their restaurants they need to have secret diners in there to let them know that this is not up to their standards. I should’ve taken photos of our food but I was on my lunch break and writing a google review wasn’t on my mind then. After pulling up photos from their menu off the web I realized how our experience, our food looked NOTHING like the pictures. On that note, needless to say we were very disappointed and will not be going back to any other Wahlburgers locations. Paying almost $40.00 for 2 Chicken sandwiches, a small side slaw and salad with 1 tea wasn’t worth it.
Food was AMAZING!! We were seated quickly. It would of been 5 stars aside from the waitress. She got us our drinks and food. We did not see her again the entire time we ate. We had all drank our drinks thinking we would be asked if we wanted more. (Hot day) When she did finally come back she said she had went to break. She asked if we wanted our bills, not drinks or dessert.
Very Disappointed, the egg rolls were very greasy. I took one bite of the Macaroni salad, it wasn’t for my liking at all. The place was clean so it gets 2 stars.
First time trying this place. Always loved the concept. Food tasted great, once it finally arrived. Service was very very slow. Allow me to describe the service like this, make sure to order ice in your water, it's the only way to get a refill while waiting for foodAtmosphere was nice. Restaurant was a bit messy (napkins, wrappers, etc on floor) Again food tastes great, kitchen staff rocked it, but food was cool by the time we got it. Plan a day to try it. Sigh....
I expected a WOW burger. It was meh... the onion rings were mostly crumbs. I'd go back to try the half-priced happy hour appetizers, but I wouldn't order a burger.
My husband and I were out shopping and wanted to try a new place that we had never been to. This was the closest place. Stood at the front for about 10 minutes, not knowing if we should pick our seat or wait to be seating. I didn't notice a sign to tell us, so we patiently waited. Finally, we were told there is a 10 to 15 mins wait. The place didn't look busy at all. Once seated, we noticed 2 areas that were being serviced. Our server had 4 tables already, then include us making it 5 tables to be serviced. Got our drinks fast. Then, we had to wait for her to come back to get our order in. By the time she came back, 2 tables had already left. I ordered a normal cheese burger and fries. My husband wanted a double decker, well done and bacon. We waited a good 20 to 30 mins. By this point, there were 2 tables (including us) left to be serviced. Another server brought out our food. You could tell it was sitting in the window for a long time. Not freshly hot but between cold/warm. My husband burger had pink in the middle, and the bacon was flimsy, not crispy at all. By this point, we're starving, so we eat. Waitress never came by to refill or check on us until we were practically done. My husband said his concerns about burger and bacon, not crispy. She went to go talk to someone and came back and told us they buy their bacon from hyvee, and it's their policy that they will not cook the bacon crispy.....ummm excuse me... I was taken back 5 this comment because we are the customer, and if we ask it to be a certain way, then we should get it our way, especially if I'm paying for it. She never took it off the bill. I was just worried about getting out at this point.I have nothing against the server and as they looked short staffed. So, I try to understand their role. I just felt the experience all together was not the best. This was a one and done place. Never will be back.
The Fiesta burger was the best burger I have had. The flavor was amazing, and I am glad there is not a Wahlburgers close to where I live, I’d be there every night. Great job!!!
The service here is what is always really struggling. I thought first time was a fluke, but turns out it is the norm. The food is ok, but definitely not worth dealing with the waiting to be served. The wait is between order being taken, the drinks coming, the food coming, and the bill.
Our first experience here and sadly our last. Onion rings were cold, fries were cold burger wasn’t cooked right and the chicken on my Cesar salad was still pink. Our waitress tried giving our onion rings to a different table and of all things no napkins or silverware
Excellent food and super friendly staff! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
