Super cute place, most staff seemed friendly. Food wasn’t great though. Not much flavor in anything. We ordered the Mac and cheese skillet w/ grilled chicken pretty bland and poorly presented when you’re choosing it for a whole meal. The brawts weren’t great and two of the three were cold. Did drink the Peach and Chong beer and was fantastic, wanted a four pack to go but they were out.
Great food and service! Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the beer which was nice for a first time customer.
Brunch was very good. Server Rachel did a very good job. Tried the Watermelon Bubblegum Sour and Caramel Apple Sour.
Excellent service, food, and drink. We stopped by here while on a cross-country journey with our dog. Note that the outdoor patio here is dog friendly. We were incredibly happy with everything about this place. All the dishes we ordered were quite good. I recommend the bratwurst platter. Beer was also great. And the service was accurate and friendly. We will be sure to make this a regular stop when we pass through Des Moines.
Wow! Just passing through for the night and found this gem! Beers were fantastic! The guys at the bar were fun, friendly, informative and attentive. Samples were offered before we even asked. And they take two beers and make slushee, another one into ice cream! ? and Chong! ? Poblano chicken wrap and mac ‘n cheese were both tasty… and quickly served given the crowd on a Thursday nighttime. Mac n cheese was some of the best we’ve ever had. Ask about all of their monthly specials. Creative, yummy and all with a smile.
We went to Barn Town Brewing on their 5th year anniversary and it was PACKED. Their new beers were phenomenal and their food was as good as it looks in all the pictures. I highly recommend this place since they have well priced burgers/sandwiches and their beer is top notch!
Incredible selection from a wide variety of beers and foods that your taste buds will thank you for later. If you haven't tried Barn Town Brewing then you are missing out on a piece of heaven in Iowa.
I had heard from a few different friends that the food is pretty good and the beer is not great, but I went in with an open mind. We got a flight, which in my opinion was really expensive. Unfortunately, the beer was not great. There are lots of good breweries in the metro, and this isn’t a place I’d go back to for the beer. It just felt flat. One of the “sours” came recommended from our server and it tasted like the leftover fruit juice from a fruit cup.The food was pretty good. We wanted to order the chips and dip for an app, but they were out of chips so that was a bummer. We ended up getting cheese curds. A light breading, not too greasy, and the smoked chipotle aioli was a good added flavor. I got the Brewer’s Burger. The burger patties were cooked really well and the egg was nice and runny, but the “braised bacon piece” on top was inedible unless you want to gnaw on it for a long time. I was hoping it’d be like pork belly where it just melts in your mouth. I would have rather just had normal bacon. The mac and cheese side was fine. It’s not very creamy. My husband got the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. The honey drizzle was a nice touch and overall that sandwich was really good. The brussel sprout side was okay. They weren’t crispy and had a lot of reduction on it.
Awesome spot to have draft beers. Many choices of beer available. You can literally see the brewing equipment from the bar. We went on a Wednesday night and the service was great. No waiting time to be seated and short waiting time for food/ drinks. Every server/ bartender was really attentive and could give recommendations. We will definitely go there again.
We've always had great meals here, but last night's meal belonged on a whole 'nother level. The Brussels sprouts appetizer, the beer brat flight, and my wife's brewer's burger were truly amazing, and our server (Bailey, maybe? I know it started with a B like all of our food items) was super-friendly and attentive. Overall, a great experience at one of our favorite places.
