Amazing bartender!
Good little dive. Everyone was friendly. A little hard to see, but definitely an experience.
Old fashioned bar. The owner is a delightful lady!
Been going here off and on to this bar since 1982, The current owner and barkeeps are the best there as ever been here. Drinks are reasonable and if a causal atmosphere is your gig its the right place for you.
It’s old and it can be depressing but the people are nice and most have calluses on their hands from the blue collar job they retired from. Friday nights and every other Wednesday is karaoke and it’s actually a very good time. Brenda has worked here for 30 years and now is the proprietor of the place. She’s doing a little work here and there to spiffy up the place. The hey day of folks cocktailing here and the phone ringing saying your table is ready at the Hickory House may be over but Brenda is doing it right in a part of town that doesn’t get much love.

A truely relaxing place to have a frosty mug.Had a great day.
Great atmosphere, karaoke on Fridays. Legit a nice pleasant place to hang out in Waterloo. Thanks Brenda!
Brenda, the owner took over in 2017, continuing the tradition of "The Oldest Bar in Waterloo." She has worked hard at continuing improvements, while keeping prices low. If your looking for a quiet place to relax where the drinks are low priced, check it out. The regular customers and bartenders are friendly. There is Karaoke on Friday's depending on covid restrictions and attendance.
Personable little bar with good beer prices and pleasant company.
