Went to celebrate our anniversary on a Sunday night after receiving an Iowa City Gift Card. We didn’t have a reservation so we were limited - a spot outside with heavy sun (it was a hot July evening) or indoors in the middle of the dining area. We chose the latter. Our server Quinn brought water and took drink order right after we were seated… a peanut butter cup and a sangria (Sunday special). The peanut butter cup was more chocolate than peanut butter and my husband was disappointed - the pb cup garnish was missing. He said it wasn’t what he expected and was ok. The sangria was very good - strawberry and blueberry fruit in a slightly sweet red wine. We ordered the focaccia bread appetizer while we looked over the main courses. It was very crisp and toasty (4 slices) served with an herb olive oil. I loved it. (Perfect for the pasta we each ordered for main course.) Everything on the menu looked great but we chose the lobster Mac & cheese and the cavatelli with chicken. The lobster Mac and cheese was very creamy and had generous lobster. The cavatelli was coated with olive oil and had mushrooms, spinach and cherry tomatoes with the chicken breast on top. I Definitely enjoyed everything about it. We decided on cheesecake with strawberries and creme brûlée with berries for dessert. The cheesecake was very good and the creme brûlée was as well (although lacking the berries). The server was very good, the atmosphere was great and there were amazing views from the outdoor area and the window seats (make a reservation if you want these views). The total bill came to $95 (before tip) for drinks, an appetizer, main course and dessert for two.
We made a reservation for a friend's 30th birthday on Sunday night. Parking wasn't ideal and signage on the outside of the building is minimal, but we didn't have too much trouble finding it since, ya know, we knew it was on the rooftop!Service was a bit slow with limited checking on us, but all staff was very kind and friendly. We felt like they definitely appreciated our business. We ordered a carafe of one of the sangria drinks, a charcuterie board, and a variety of meals. All of us were very happy with the food selection and the flavor! We all want to go back and try more on the menu.
Lovely atmosphere. Great drinks. Delicious foods. I just wish the elevator to get to the restaurant wasn't also the elevator to get to the hotel... Really takes forever to get up there when the hotel is remotely busy.
Sunset sangria on the sunny rooftop - refreshing Porkbelly BLT on their lunch menu - life changing! Cheesecake - perfect end to a great meal Kate M was stellar!
The menu is just the right size. There is plenty of options without going over board. There is an equally good selection of drinks. The food was great qaulity and had great flavor.
Great atmosphere. Excellent service. Delicious food. Highly recommend. We had an enjoyable meal. Everything was tasty. A great option - you won’t be disappointed.
Vue Rooftop is a lovely 12 floors up in the Hilton Garden Inn, Iowa City. We think it's a great place to take visitors/guests for a meal and drinks, and to see a beautiful view of our city. Recently we went for supper, my hubby ordered Braised Short Ribs with mashed potatoes, $28.00. He thought his meal was excellent. I ordered 1/2 Caesar Salad and added salmon, $14.00, very nice meal, and the salmon was a generous portion. We were swayed by the dessert menu and ordered Brioche Bread Pudding, $7.00, a very large serving and delicious. Our meals were very good. I will add that our server was very efficient, but I was taken aback when he called me "hun" the whole evening; not offended, but he was in the twenties range and I am in my seventies.
Great burgers & service! Loved the view
Great location. Really good drinks. We had excellent service. Only downside was Caesar the said crispy chickpeas that weren’t and less than stellar croutons. I think the others in my party with regular entrees had better luck.
Very disappointed. Came for the Kentucky Derby party and paid a $15 cover per person. We sat at the bar while we waited for another member of our party and our bartender was helpful and kind, however it was all downhill from there. After the last member of our party arrived we asked if we could move to a table. Our bartender said that would be fine (and actually preferred since we would be ordering entrees). We visited the host stand and she seated us outside. We waited 45 minutes and no one came to take our order or even to check in. We followed up with another waitress to let her know we had been waiting quite a while and ask if we could get some service. After another few minutes we finally had someone bring us water and said our sever would be with us soon. At this point we decided to just leave as we had been there an hour and a half total. Overall the quality of service does not match the high prices and we will not be back.
