First and foremost walked in and seemed decent as it was my first time and experience with your restaurant. The menu looks great overall. But my main reason for my review is the value for food. The tacos we ordered were very lack luster for the price. The delivery of food was very messy. My carne asada tacos had very little meat and toppings for what a taco should have. My girlfriend didn't receive a spoon with her side and we requested one twice. The service was pretty horrible while the restaurant wasn't very busy when we ordered and arrived. This restaurant needs to really step up the quality of delivery of food and service. Prices need to reflect the portion sizes and quality. Also our table was dirty when we arrived also. 50¢ more to three items which were never changed in any way. Servers seemed to be untrained. Please do better! Especially for a local restaurant.
Passed by the interstate factory restaurants and found exactly what I was looking for. Locally owned Tiki Tacos right in the heart of beautiful downtown Iowa City. So good. Rachel was awesome, told her I was in need of a margarita. She suggested the flight. Great idea. She also suggested the nachos, best ever. Sat outside and everyone passing by wanted to know which margarita was best. I will let you decide when you go. It's a hard decision.
Improvements and upgrades!! TV's !!! and TV's!! and the staff come to you and hv a sweet tablet to get food in fast, love it!! Plus added food items and appetizers. GREAT variety of food!
I have heard such good things and was really excited to give Tiki Tacos a try. I ordered fish tacos and chips and salsa through doordash. When my order arrived it was missing the chips and salsa. Doordash issued me a credit for the chips and salsa...but I really wanted chips and salsa. The fish tacos were horrible! The fish was burnt, not fresh and had absolutely no flavor. The rice and beans were average at best. I'm very disappointed and won't order again.
only received half of our food!! called and was told no Manager until tomorrow for a refund. the fajita taco literly came with three pieces of meat on them!! and food was cold. Will definitely not order from here again.
Tiki has the best food, drinks and service! The atmosphere is amazing and the margarita flights are the best! Such a great selection. I have been several times and keep going back to try new things on the menu! The Brussels are the best I have ever had. And the nachos are to die for! It’s all so good! The staff is always so friendly and helpful. Definitely my favorite place in Iowa City!
The only thing we tried was the Buffalo n Bleu Mac. It was amazing but could use more Buffalo and less Cajun on the chicken. Big enough to share!
Interesting twist on tacos and burgers, prompt service and the food arrived quickly, fried pickles were better than we usually find, tacos carnitas was good although maybe the meat could have been more flavorful with a bit less acid/lime garnish. Salsa had it's own flavor profile with a touch of sweetness and a clear note of garlic. Chips were served hot & had a nice crunch to them. Plethora of drink options both alcoholic and not, cherry limeade was handmade and didn't spare the lime.
This place is the result of a guy who loves tacos, wings, and burgers opening a restaurant and running a tight ship.Owner brought out our rum flight and walked me through the elixirs himself on a late Monday afternoon then went back to the kitchen to cook our fantastic food.Fair prices and good deals to bootHighly recommend to any and allBravo
Was fine when they first opened. But now they can't decide if they want to be carryout or sit down? $15 plus tip for 3 tacos and a drink(which now comes with a side of bad tasting beans and rice to "justify"). It's really just a way to raise prices. It has been a few months since I've been, but honestly the prices keep going up and the quality keeps going down, I don't think I'll be back.You can also read the reviews and it seems there is always "Something wrong with equipment" or "Our distribution was messed up" but rather than tell customers "Hey. We're out of those handmade fries" and adjust, they just give them random product and charge the same. It's always excuses.
